Even if you're not finishing out the month, this year's inks were very fun Echo! Good job!

And good luck with Nanowrimo! I haven't had the bravery to attempt it since college  :noidea: so more power to you and everyone else on the forum who plan to take a shot!

Will review stories upon request. My latest arc: http://goo.gl/KYgsfF

Thanks Coryn! Nanowrimo has been going okay so far. Certainly does take its toll on creative energy.
Just curious, have you written anything non-MR Canon related recently?  :o

Update (Kinda) ----

I almost forgot about posting the set of drawings I did in September! Last year, I partook in a challenge that a friend of mine started, called the August Daily Sketch Initiative. It was a challenge she started to help get her drawing through the month and she invited others to join her.

I actually posted last year's sketches here, the ones featuring the a blindfolded girl with a staff, some of them done as mini comic pages.

This year's prompts were all song-based. That is, they were all titles of songs picked either by my friend or some of the participants. She didn't give us the composer and added on a bonus challenge to find the song that was listed... yo, some had 4-5 songs with the same name!! (mostly the romantic based ones lol)

Anyway, instead of drawing new characters in a new setting, I decided to work on an idea I'd had for a while but never really drawn, so it was the perfect time to flesh out the designs and concepts a little more.

Here are the first few (NOTE: The subjects in the drawings don't follow in chronological order):

Day 1 - Wrong Side of Heaven

Day 2 - Assimilation

Day 3 - Book of Revelation

Day 4 - Black Swan

Day 5 - All the Work

The story follows No. 1 (name tbd) who tries to escape a survival game world she wakes up in. In her quest to get out, she gathers a team of like-minded individuals to help her beat the various stages of the game in order to gain more information.

As you'll find in these drawings, it's a darker idea than what I usually work with... (I don't generally like survival settings)... The setting is pretty gloomy... players kiling players, zombies hordes, horror stories on the train., enemy NPCs that just want you dead... that kind of thing. I'll share more about it when something comes to mind.

No one is perfect . . . that's why there's erasers and extra paper.

Good luck with NaNoWriMo!

Very cool results from these drawing projects you’ve done, and very inspiring! It’s actually got me wondering do you use your doodles and prompted drawings to inform and shape your story writing around, or do you tend to start from a story concept before the art? It’s actually been fairly difficult for me to write for my graphic novel story and I think it may be because I lack the concept art/visual storyboard element when I’m writing.

Anyways, pretty sure Day 1’s song is “Wrong Side of Heaven” by Five Finger Death Punch… not too sure about the others… if the same person suggested a song for Day 4 it could be an old song from Story of the Year??

Excited to see more from you as always :)

Let's see, non MR Canon, erm... Ah... I think....

Well, I must admit that it's been the majority of my writing recently. I started too many stories, and now I feel I must finish them, haha. Although I have definitely done some work for the Cyberpunk 2020 campaign I've been running. Nothing in great detail that I can really share on the forum, but I'd call it writing all the same.

Hopefully soon I can return to my non-canon bread and butter. War Arc is nearly done. And after that I will be spending some loving R&R with CS.

I have done both. Usually for the prompt/challenge drawings, it is the drawings that come first. I think up the character designs and develop the story on the spot. The nice thing about that is I get a feel of the world from the start and the story sometimes just comes out on its own. It's like, once you know what the main character looks like, you can design the villain to complement that, and he looks like he'd live in this type of enviromnent - kinda thing. At least that's what I've found.

For these sketches, I already had the story concept, but I hadn't fully designed or even named all of the characters. Drawing them now has helped in grounding character descriptions and personalities. I might have imagined or described a character or setting one way, but once I get it down in a drawing I might think, "Nah, it doesn't give off the impression I thought it would", and make changes then.

And yesss, you got Day 1 right! Day 4 is actually the K-pop BTS song ^^;

Haha, well the MR Canon stories are always fun to read. Really love the work you guys put into them!
Do hope to read more of your other writing in the future.
