It’s actually got me wondering do you use your doodles and prompted drawings to inform and shape your story writing around, or do you tend to start from a story concept before the art? It’s actually been fairly difficult for me to write for my graphic novel story and I think it may be because I lack the concept art/visual storyboard element when I’m writing.
I have done both. Usually for the prompt/challenge drawings, it is the drawings that come first. I think up the character designs and develop the story on the spot. The nice thing about that is I get a feel of the world from the start and the story sometimes just comes out on its own. It's like, once you know what the main character looks like, you can design the villain to complement that, and he looks like he'd live in this type of enviromnent - kinda thing. At least that's what I've found.
For these sketches, I already had the story concept, but I hadn't fully designed or even named all of the characters. Drawing them now has helped in grounding character descriptions and personalities. I might have imagined or described a character or setting one way, but once I get it down in a drawing I might think, "Nah, it doesn't give off the impression I thought it would", and make changes then.
And yesss, you got Day 1 right! Day 4 is actually the K-pop BTS song ^^;
Well, I must admit that it's been the majority of my writing recently. I started too many stories, and now I feel I must finish them, haha. Although I have definitely done some work for the Cyberpunk 2020 campaign I've been running. Nothing in great detail that I can really share on the forum, but I'd call it writing all the same.
Hopefully soon I can return to my non-canon bread and butter. War Arc is nearly done. And after that I will be spending some loving R&R with CS.
Haha, well the MR Canon stories are always fun to read. Really love the work you guys put into them!
Do hope to read more of your other writing in the future.
