Kenshin is a very nice yet sometimes timid person. He is very clumsy unless wielding a sword. He has sworn an oath not to kill in an attempt to make up for the people he killed in the Bakumatsu.

Kenshin through out the story falls in love with a girl named Kaoru Kamiya who runs a dojo in Tokyo.

Kenshin uses a reversed blade samurai sword as part of his oath not to kill.
