It's easier to convert manga into webcomics if you have original files as digital.

If you are having trouble reading webcomics because you have to zoom in then it is the fault of the font being too small

well my phone isn't particularly small but I don't know if all webcomics are designed to be read on a phone?
I can't say I'd considered it until now but I suppose most people do browse the web on their phone, especially at work or on transport.

and I'm sure you're not the only one, Coryn.
I suppose amongst other reasons that's what makes the vertical format popular is its ease of access. You can read it all the time no matter where you are. Which means the target market is larger as you dont need a laptop or PC to view it comfortably.

Same reason when my dojo recently recorded a demonstration they did it in a vertical format I suppose. If the intent is to put it on any form of social media, vertical is currently the way to go.

The cinematic effect of vertical formats is undeniable. Depeneding on how creative you've also definitely seen manhua that have implemented music and other dramatic timing effects for certain situations to enhance the story so yeah vertical is a path to follow

But the traditional book format of comics is going to be here for a while.

The popularity of the different formats seems like it would be difficult for content creators to decide which format (or both) to go for.
Not just deciding what to write/draw, but now also how to present it... (>_<)

I think the expected book format is always here to stay so go for whatever creative format you want first, and if it needs to though it's a bit of work translating it into print is also possible. Happens with a lot of popular webtoons.

That being said I don't know how you could turn something like MSPaint Adventures into print haha. That's just something super special to be enjoyed purely online methinks

yeah I think it depends on the content as to how well it translates between different mediums. There's always the anime v manga debate as for which one was better for every show existing. Not to mention book v movie debate. So some vertical style comics would work well as a book but others not so much.

I haven't come across any manhua with music, that sounds pretty cool (like a cross between a comic and audiobook XD) but I've seen some with animated gif effects like flickering flames or glowing magical effects etc, which obviously only works on a digital medium.

... For now hehehe. When tech gets crazy we're going to be further than books with orange fore-edge. We gonna have Harry Potter moving portraits at a point hahaha

I used to know which manhua. It was a horror one methinks but I need to remember. I know that yuumei works a lot with music for her paintings

will definitely be interesting to see any new mediums developing with new technologies although I'm still a fan of keeping books alive XD

I've never been able to get into webtoons, just absolutely hate the format unfortunately. Manga and comics are the way to go imo
