Inktober 2022
« on: October 03, 2022, 01:06:57 AM »
Once again the time is upon us!
I'm not planning on doing Inktober this year, or at least, not during the days themselves. (having said that, now I've typed this topic though I'm suddenly inspired to do it ahahaha)
But figured I'd make the topic to raise awareness and if anyone's doing it, not doing it, or undecided, then here's the chance to join in and post your works here so we can all encourage one another.

Inktober, if you haven't heard of it already, is an artist's challenge during October to draw something every day in ink, following the same prompts as everyone else. Originally the challenge was just to draw in ink, but given the digital artists joining in and the growing popularity over the art community, and ultimately it's a challenge, not a competition, it's up to you what medium you use!

Here's the main link for more info:
https://inktober.com/

And the prompts for this year:

Personally I'm a big fan of interpreting prompts quite liberally, but some try and stick as close as they can to the prompt word. It's a bit of fun that everyone can get involved in so how you work with the prompts is also up to you.

Looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with!!!

We're already up to day 3, so time to get your pens out and start scribbling!!!!

I'm thinking I'm going to trial a new digital sketching style for these, a combo of speed and different rendering.

Let's goooo~
I'm doing Inktober this year again. I feel so out of practice haha. It's hard not to compare to my previous years. But as always, every drawing comes out as a surprise for me.

Here are the ones I've done so far, from Day 1 - 4

Spoiler

Would love to see others' drawings if you're doing it too!
No one is perfect . . . that's why there's erasers and extra paper.

awesome stuff so far!!!!! very hard to pick a favourite....
1 because of the cool effects and the mask
2 because it has a background
3 because such an awesome pose - could see this in a manga definitely
4 because it's cute

But as always, every drawing comes out as a surprise for me.
Perhaps because it's actually a finished pieces vs. a sketch or WIP? I find the same sort of thing happens with my work. Anything that's finished has a sort of x2 multiplier on it :P

I'm going try blocks of 4 myself actually, working on a new digital style. Nothing to do with Ink at this point lol

Days 1-4 are great! Suuper hit on exactly what I was thinking. Your VFX (for lack of a better term) work is really good! That swirling energy and motion blur is something I always struggle with when mentally visualizing it, so seeing something seriously difficult to describe put down in ink is impressive.

Will review stories upon request. My latest arc: http://goo.gl/KYgsfF

that's very true, I've definitely struggled to come up with anything more than just swooshy lines, but it's handy to be able to google image so many references for different types of effects these days for quick inspiration. I save a lot of manga pages in specific folders for types of reference but it's quite hard to find the time to actually study them!!
