TIME TO FINISH SOME UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
At this point my list may be obsolete, as I went through a big post-punk phase not too long ago and discovered lots of new bands and albums.
BUT. A lot of my faves still ring true. So without further ado.
11. Modern Eon–
Fiction Tales (1980)
Modern Eon could have been much, much bigger than they were, but due to the drummer’s injuries they had to call it quits, leaving this dark, sexy cityscape of an album their lone document.

10. Bauhaus–
In the Flat Field (1980)
You’d expect a band that was one of the most goth bands to exist in the early 80s to be completely dour, but while this album contains its fair share of morbity, it also contains punk’s humor and raw aggression, which makes for a party of an album.

9. Joy Division–
Unknown Pleasures (1978)
This album is the poster-child of post-punk, its primitivism, its darkness, its melodicism, its experimentation, the remnants of punk still apparent, and it remains the best starting point to answer the question, “uhhhh… ‘post-punk’?”

8. Chameleons–
Script of the Bridge (1983)
Vocalist Mark Burgess knows nothing for certain, except that the view from this bridge is beautiful, and the listener can surmise that if its anything like this album, it sure is beautiful.

7. Sonic Youth–
EVOL (1986)
Are the words “gorgeous,” “moody,” and, “atmospheric,” acceptable for an 80s Sonic Youth record?
