Cosplaying Tips for Dummies?
« on: March 01, 2017, 05:18:50 PM »
This is something that is not going to happen this century... Well, not soon enough anyways, but I needed tips and tricks from the veterans who have decided to jump into the world of cosplay.

I'm naturally limited to a select few, and that's even before I have to consider things like having a six pack or the right height. Sigh. I'd have loved to be an Ichigo.

Anyhow Tousen is awesome as well. The glasses, the lankiness, the coolness in every outfit he has, I'd love to make a reasonable cosplay of him.

Should I just directly buy from amazon? Hire a tailor? Modify clothing that I already bought?

How do you guys cosplay? What if I want to make a costume for any character at all (Heck even a character from a story on MR)... What would you do?

Naturally, fellow beginners are allowed to give advice, because at my level, the only cosplay I do is putting up my excellent Nigerian accent... Oga.

Change your hairstyle to fit the character. Walk around naked and be "Naked (character name here)." If people point out that you do not have the same skin color or physique call them out on their racism and body shaming.

This... This might actually be the solution I sought.

There are several ways to do it.

1. You can buy the cosplay on ebay or aliexpress.  Same for the hair: there are cosplay wigs on ebay which will help you recreate his hair.Nobody will yell at you because you didn't make it with your own hands.

2. If you decide to  do it with your own hands, you can use tutorials from google: I'm sure there are free sewing patterns that will help you. This method will be the most difficult but the most rewarding because you'll learn lots of stuff about sewing, fabrics to sew the  outfit.

3. As you mentionned, you can also modify clothes you already have but you'll also need some basic sewing technics to do it.
