nicely done. have you ever used textures? i think the ground feels a bit too plain. dirt and ground is wonderfully textured, it might help to reference these when you colour, or actually use them in the art iteself

Those psycho girl stuff are really good. That girl with the dark wings looks gorgeus.

@suupertramp - The main reason I choose this to colour to practice more on the hair and fabric, but I do agree that the ground is too plain. But generally no, I don't use textures.

@Walter B - Thanks, Walter. The girl with wings was a bit of a pain, but I did enjoy the moments of colouring and figuring it out as I want on. ^^

It's been a while since I fully coloured an image, so I chose to colour Serval from Kemono Friends (RIP second season :sadbye:). I tried something new and explored outside of DeviantArt for lineart to practice colouring, shading, ect., and found this lovely piece.

Again, I just coloured this image. I did not draw and lined this piece. That belongs to the original artist in the twitter link below.

The colour of her spots and strips on her tail weren't dark enough to stand out, like her character in the show, so I attempted to adjust them but failed from my point of view. Overall, I'm happy with this colouring exercise.

I like the shading C: And the soft gradient at the tip of her ears makes it look more natural.

In my opinion, the spots look fine as is, considering that if they were a bit bolder, the contrast may be too much. I think the played down blacks allow the eye to look at the outfit as a whole. And for myself I'm naturally drawn to her face as opposed to some other part of her body. Eh, just some thoughts I had.

Nice job!

Another colour exercise. The character goes by the name Clownpiece, and she's from Touhou. I'm curious to know why the designer chose an American flag clothing with a jester personality. :hmm:

The line-artist with source to the orginal lineart:

Thanks, eukocar & Walter B!

If you're talking about my colouring, it all about layers and organization. Layers help a ton when it come to shading and highlights without disturbing the base structure.

That's seriously amazing colour work Vio. Methinks you also need to be kicked out of the Starter Gallery at this point haha.

I might have stepped out of the beginner zone with my colouring and settings, but I don't think my character designs is up to par yet.

I have to stand by Lego here. Maybe it's time to put your coloring stuff in the other art thread area and start building up your character designs and other art techniques here. It's a thing to have a foot on both sides of the fence, especially since "art" is so broad and multi-faceted that it can make your head spin.
Haha signature go brr.
