Does anybody know anybody who is not from japan and has publish a manga and has actually gotten some type of recognition for it? Im african american so i feel more comfortable with creating a manga when i know someone of my same racial background has done it before.
Only people i Know so far are Mark Crilley and the creator of the boondocks.

your right aero, but im telling the truth when I say im trying not to make this manga like naruto and bleach or any other manga. I really do think my manga is still unique in a way, but I still Know there is lot of things I got to change. I will figure out what to add in my manga to make it unique. Yeah I see what you mean when the school is like soul eater in a way. ill take what you said into consideration coryn, but i really was hooked on school missions and rankings. I was even going to do a tournament based off the rankings. as for the Maki's personality I tried base him off myself in a way cause I wanted the characters to be based off people i know in real life. But he does have a dark side of him and I will implement that into the story.
and to answer your character lego, Maki's mindset changed when he was atacked by chaos on his way to school one day. At this time(not sure what age) Maki couldnt control his powers. So, he was pretty much defenseless. Then he was saved by a mysterious man who will be very important in the story later. The man then tells Maki Theres no point in becoming a chaos hunter if you dont even Know what your fighting for and then disappears. Ever since that day Maki decided to become stronger so he will never again feel so defenseless like he did on that day.

This is just a random session where I just throw out my ideas for my manga Chaos Hunter. ill describe the story in a brief manner and give out some character descriptions and any other idea that pops up in my head. Okay here goes!
First ill describe the story
Chaos Hunter takes place in a fictional earth, where positive and negative energy flows throughout the earth. There are two forces who utilize this energy. The chaos and the chaos hunters. The Chaos are monsters created from the mixture of negative emotions of a human and the negative energy that flows throughout the earth. To elaborate, the negative energy of earth acts like parasite, feeding on the negative emotions of a human,eventually controlling them. When this happens the negative energy of the earth begins to break down the human soul and then reconstruct it, filling it with negative energy. In order to keep the Chaos from taking over the earth, humans with the ability to utilize the positive energy of the earth banded together to combat the chaos and keep the earth safe. These are the Chaos hunters. The main story line will the follow the life of Maki Ukisane, a 15 year boy who dreams of becoming the strongest chaos hunter to ever live. so, one day he can eliminate the chaos and the negative energy of the earth for good.
Thats pretty much the story in a nutshell. When I start writing out the story chapters it will sound much deeper.
Now for some character descriptions they wont be to long though.
Maki Ukisane
Age: 15
Occupation: Chaos Hunter in training
Maki Ukisane is the main protagonist of the Chaos Hunter series. He is a member of the legendary Ukisane family who are known to be to the strongest of all Chaos Hunters. With that being said, alot of pressure has been placed on Maki so he can exceed his family's expectations . However, because of this immense pressure, Maki is always doubting himself, never being really sure if he can live up to his family's expectations. This has caused Maki to do poorly in school, unable to show his True potential. Thus, many people in Maki's school calls him the Ukisane disappointment. After years of being put down by his upperclassmen in school, Maki decided that he was become to stronger for himself and ignore his family's and many others expectations. With this new-found determination became one of the top ranked chaos hunters during his final year of chaos Hunter preschool, proving the naysayers wrong. However, Maki will have overcome one of the biggest challenges in his life, and that is passing the entry exam for the Chaos Hunter academy.
Maki is very laid back and mellow. The type of guy who always able to look on the the bright side even in the most depressing situations. He has a welcoming personality, which has caused him to be liked by many of his peers. However, because of his nice personality, people are always taking advantage of him. Even so, Maki doesn't seem to really care much since he is always willing to help people in need. On the other hand, when it comes to fighting Chaos, Maki is a very different person. He is a very aggressive fighter, never showing any mercy when fighting Chaos. His attack style is very wild and unpredictable, which has its ups and downs. He's also quick thinker when it comes to fighting, always being able to adapt to his enemy's fighting style and his environment. He likes to fight his opponents close up and not from a distance. He is also very resilient and never gives up until the job is done.
He specializes in soul bending, the ability to use his own soul and the souls of the others as an energy source. A technique created by the Ukisane family.
Okay I think I should stop right here and explain a few things that might seem confusing.
The Chaos Hunter preschool is like a elementary school Chaos Hunters. Kids who discover that they have special powers can go to a Chaos Hunter preschool, so they learn how to use their powers.
Now the chaos hunter academy is like a high school and college for Chaos hunters. Its a very huge school where Chaos Hunters can truly hone their skills and its very hard to get into. Chaos hunters who enroll in this school can take up missions and rank up in status.(For example, apprentice chaos hunter, junior chaos hunter, so on and so forth.)
also I cant describe Maki's appearance because my partner is in the mist of redrawing characters, so i wont know what he looks like until he is done. Also we are still coming up with looks for the chaos so i cant give you a basic appearance of the chaos either.
I wrote alot and im getting lazy so im going to stop right here.

True, but I wasnt really asking you what my story should include. What I meant was how much content should I give out? I dont want to give out a long drawn out back story that would bore people to death. Im just trying to find ways to explain the back story of my manga in a interesting way without putting people to sleep. I guess the answer will come to me sooner or later.
