Welcome Center / I'm back ^^ (I think)
« on: June 27, 2015, 10:34:13 AM »
Hi again :3 I'm sure no one knows me but I'd like to properly get into this site ^^ (unlike last time where I made the account to share my writing and then ended up being too busy :(.. )

I signed up last year but school last semester was quite hard on me so I wasn't able to do any art or creative writing... I'm starting my senior year in college but I might have to change my major '3' but even so I do hope I'll be able to find the time to drop some art in here and get a few critiques once in a while :)

It's a pleasure to meet you and feel free to ask questions :3 I love Playstation 2 so if you need to fangirl (or boy) about something ^^ I collect ps2 games so we can talk about it!

break Room / Make some money playing a browser game :)
« on: June 27, 2015, 10:23:07 AM »
Hello everyone :)

I've been creeping on here for a while and noticed some hope to profit a bit from their writing and/or art. There's actually a game I've been playing that has somewhat of a focus in art and you are allowed to sell your creations to people. You can also accept commissions. It's by no means a real job or anything but I've made some money from it and maybe you'd like to also :) You need a paypal though since most players use that to send money.

The site is called Subeta and it's kind of like Neopets in a way. People usually want art and stories of their pets. You can post your deviant art accounts to see if people like your style :3

If you do start playing from here ^^ Send me a message once your account is made :) I'll gladly help you get started and send over a few gifts. My name here is the same there, MadaraKeehl with no spaces.

I really hope you guys like it and hope you profit some!

(The rules say I can't advertise without permission or show off my own forum. I'm not sure if this is the same but please let me know so I can get an admin to remove this thread or something. Thank you and I apologize in advanced if I'm doing something wrong.)

break Room / About making a browser game..
« on: June 19, 2015, 11:58:17 AM »
Hello :) I'm just a simple college student with an idea and I've been wanting to do this for a while. My friend and I finally decided it's time to hire a few people but I'm confused about a few things.

I want to make something that looks similar to...neopets/subeta? i guess. Free to play but with optional purchases. I also want to be able to send rewards to players who take part in rankings. (The original idea was an app, but I'm more comforable with the idea of managing a web game). If someone wants to help with an app though :0 please feel free to mention it ^^

Am I looking for a programmer or a web developer (or both) for this project? My friend and I are doing the design, art, script...pretty much everything else. I'd also like to learn how to run and edit the site myself once it's up as well (another option was to learn the skills myself). Once I know what I need, I'll probably request help from here first.

Thanks all for your assistance in this :) if you have the skills I'm looking for, post here ^^ When I put the official request up, I'll pm you. Also...sorry if this is a mess, I'm writing this with my phone and I'm still a derp at it.

Hello everyone :) I was wondering if there was someone out there who could help me with this. I'm interested in making an app similar to Shall we date dating simulation games from the google play store. At the moment my friends and I have all the concepts and wanted a nice template to use.

We're looking for someone to make something similar to RPG Maker so I myself wouldn't have to code too much when changing banners. Something like a fill in the blank template. This app would also need a server to run through as we plan to have monthly updates in game during maintenance periods.

Thanks for all your help.

(I posted this in the General Manga writers discussion as well, I'm not sure which section this should go in)

Manga Writer workshop / Re: Making up a language and I need feedback...
« on: October 18, 2014, 10:00:56 PM »
Sentence structure is like English for the most part, but there are set structures for certain things.

There are no slang words but as mentioned above, the younger generation will change the word order to flow better. Also some words don't exist in this language so they use English for those words instead (similar to Japanese).

Responding to Dr.Angelus:
No lol Oh my god I don't think I could manage anything as extensive as Elvish but I would definitely (after the book is out and if it's popular enough) translate all the words in the dictionary into this language. Then as an aside, write the grammar book.

Thanks for all your advice btw :) and so sorry I haven't been on to check this..

break Room / Looking for Referral Points on Subeta
« on: October 18, 2014, 01:41:46 AM »
Lol didn't know where else to put this so I thought here would be okay?
Looking to get people to refer me on -> http://subeta.net/registration.php

My Username is MadaraKeehl :) If there is  game you would like referrals on, I will gladly make an account for you. In order to count as a refer, you have to make a pet and make 10k sP. 10k sP is only 1 minigame honest :O It'll take about 3 mins :3 This game doesn't even ask you to confirm your email. So if you have an unused one you forgot the PW for you can use that too :P

Thanks in advanced for your help ^^ I'll really appreciate it :3

(If this is not something i can request here, please feel free to remove this post ^^)

Manga Writer workshop / Re: How will you React?: Holding a Human Head
« on: September 26, 2014, 03:42:19 AM »
To be honest, I think I would look a bit longer at the head. As it says, my hands were just randomly heavy so I think it would take a minute to actually register what was going on. After realizing I'd probably just jump back a bit with a gasp. Maybe an "Eek" or "Ew.." or something. While jumping back I would drop the head.

I'd then look around a bit like what the hell..
Well, at least I'M not dead. And walk away.

Granted that isn't what most people would do but I wouldn't be so worried since I blacked out for that kill. I'm very superstitious so I'd probably thank god or whatever possessed me to defend myself and get on with my life. Then again, this probably could work if you're story isn't so realistic. I could see some vampire girl not giving a crap about the head of a guy that tried to kill you in your hands. Serves him right :l?

Oh no worries about the book length. It's going to take at least 50+ pages just to get started (I write novels/really long fanfics ^^") so learning the language will be a pretty slow experience. This language is only for the "upper class" so English is the main spoken language anyway. I often have the characters correct themselves when in a group. Like they'll fall back into their native language (the complicated one) but when they realize there are people around who don't understand, they'll repeat themselves.
It's only happened a few times so far but its not so much that the story will be confusing. ...At least I hope not xD

Manga Writer workshop / Re: Naming Characters
« on: September 24, 2014, 08:40:43 PM »
I agree :) Hence the "real world" names. Like Sashie Hajime (????) and Hikaru Shiro (????).
But even irl I like less mainstream names like Noah for a girl, Ansel, and Marcel.

I just like how names sound but I love the characters all the same. Like the name has to suit the character; i think that's pretty important.

Well I've never actually taken linguistics ^^" But I am a Japanese major?
I was actually thinking about putting the meaning of the phrases at the end of the book? Kind of like how Fruits Basket did with sound effects.

And I actually tried to make it simple Q.Q like it can be translated directly which is nice :) (unlike Japanese) but do you guys have any suggestions to make it simpler?

Manga Writer workshop / Making up a language and I need feedback...
« on: September 24, 2014, 02:21:20 AM »
So I'm writing a book and it takes place in a fantasy world. I write full sentences of this language in story but I don't define it. The reason is because I want the reader to learn the language like one of the characters; only rich people are taught this language.
Looking for advice, suggestions, question, comments, etc. If you need a sample of the story please let me know. I have no problem posting 5 pages or so :) Thanks in advanced.

Sentence structure is pretty much like English, like you can translate word for word. Exceptions are modifiers at the end of words rather than before. (EX: star = hins; the star = hinshe; a star = hinse) (fantasy = moh; the fantasy = mohhe; a fantasy = mohe)

If words end in double letters, the second letter goes to the beginning of the next word and vice-versa:
(Latan sie bucoui ibou = This is an interesting book) Interesting = bucouii; Book= ibou
(Latan si iis gaenk kaa = This is my right hand) Right = Gaen; Hand = Kkaa

At the beginning of a sentence, you must specify the Tense/Who the sentence is directed to:
Turezo = future sentence (Turezo I aera ri moirua = I will help her)
Xienzo = past sentence (Xienzo I aera ri moirua = I helped her)

***As a form of slang, native speakers will mix up the sentence so it flows better.
I need a lot of help, please. (yours specifically) = Utenara gisso cuvaxura moirua teshou.
(Utenara = sentence directed to the listener specifically. Rather than "I need help" its "I need YOUR help")
(Gisso = A large amount; Ultres = A bit more)
(Cuvaxura = To need; Moirua = help/to help; Teshou = please/to request something)
That said ^ a sentence written properly would be "Utenara cuvaxura gisso moirua teshou."

Manga Writer workshop / Re: Naming Characters
« on: September 24, 2014, 01:24:14 AM »
Just gonna res this forum lol

I name based on how it sounds I suppose. Like the others said, if your story takes place in the real world you kind of have to keep with "real" sounding names. However in fantasies you can do whatever you want. I actually invented a language (still working on it since I make words as I go) so a lot of my characters names are written in it. Another "language" I have is just words backwards with a bit of a shuffle. I found this was also a good way to make fantasy names. (EX: Hourglass = Salgruoh; Ninja = Ajin)

Also, if you play games like Makai Kingdom that requires you to name a bunch of characters you'll have a bunch of names to put in stories :P Close your eyes and pick some letters then rearrange (that's how my little sister does it)

(Personally I think I'm horrible at naming but here are some examples)
Fantasy names:
Tayviral (I have him in a lot of stories, kind of just carry him around.)
Nouvys (like Novice; Makai Kingdom)
Tevyn (Disgaea)
Deryvitse
Cyfyr (Cipher)
Uokes
Mouvii
Gallio
Yutaeso
Palitte (palette)
Nuyir (Riyun)

Real Names/word names:
Ansel
Zio
Shiro
Hajime
Jo
Hex
Halos
Helix
Meighun (Megan)

...I hope this post helps some people in their naming quest :)

Tips and Tutorials / Re: How do I draw this guy's hair from the front?
« on: September 24, 2014, 12:34:20 AM »
Don't worry too much about it :) There are 2 different ways you could draw this.

First: In older anime and the like, the hair would move with the character. If you did this, you could keep the hair slightly curved over one eye (the eye that is away from the viewer) do this no matter which way he's facing to keep it consistent.

OR second: You could more realistically keep his hair right in the middle which is where it is in both of these pictures. Draw right between the eyes about half way down.

PS: Anatomy is decent. You just have a more cartoony style rather than an anime one.

FanFics / I'll write personal fanfics for you ;)
« on: September 22, 2014, 02:24:32 AM »
I'm sorry if this isn't where I'm supposed to post this.... Please let me know if this is not okay.

Just a heads up, my fanfics are crazy long (and private so if you want an example, please PM me). You can request what you'd like here or in a PM. I will only work on 1 fanfic and 2 oneshots at a time. (A fanfic will be 30-40+ pages while a oneshot will be a single chapter; 2-~15 pages) If you like the story and what to publish it, let me know and I can make you a storyboard for an artist to follow and change the story to script.

What I do:
Anime, manga and video games that I'm familiar with.
Pre and post anime (Like i might give a background story so your OC makes more sense)
T and M rated material. As I said, I will make this for you; whatever you want.
I really like to follow a story exactly. If you want a oneshot however, let me know in advanced.

What I WON'T do:
AU (I hate it...) but I might make an exception if it makes sense
No OOC. The story you want me to make has to make sense with the characters involved.
Cross-overs (they are hard as crap) unless you want a KH story, then I could combine it wish FF. Other cases like this are fine too.
Genres (based on fanfiction.net): Crime, Humor, Mystery, Parody, Western

I'm looking for some sort of payment for everything except oneshots. As I said, you're going to have a book when I'm done :P (I understand money is always tight which is why I'm looking for work here. Just offer me something and we can work out a deal. If a story seems easy I might not charge at all. Just trying to fund my cosplay xD)

***This may sound odd but if you play Subeta I will except payment in the form of a referral and points on that game*** Desperate xD
