I really liked Devola's idea of involving fellow members, as recruitable characters. Which gave me sort of the kick i needed to get back into one of my favorit games (of all times),

Stranger of Sword City
Short Synopsis:

You awaken in a strange land, full of crashed air plains. Upon your arrival, you're immediately attacked by several monsters. You're then saved by a mysterious girl, who reveales herself to be a stranger to these lands much like yourself. On earth (not we're not in space but in a different realm/dimension) the gravity is heavier, so Strangers (us visitors from a different dimension) are stronger and faster than the citizens of this world. As you are recruit into the Strangers guild, you help your newfound friends find a way to return home.

Strangers of Sword City is an old school dungeon crawler rpg, where you create your own characters (and yes i mean more than just your main protagonist. If a team member dies, you HAVE to create a new character.
So thanks to Devola's interesting thread, i've decided to play this myself again and as such i'm looking for recruits! ^^ You're also welcome to post more than just one character (as already mention this game features the risk of characters dying!), so post your character's name, race, talent, class (and future class choice).

I won't just use the first 5 people (because there's the risk of perma-death XD), so i'll use anyone who decides to join this campaign, post updates, maybe even record a bit of gameplay, upload it on youtube and share that aswell. However... I apologize before hand if my actions result in the death of any of my dear fellow raiders!

On a side-note the game has two art styles (three if we count the last set of portraits but won't bother with them. Art style is not just portrait choice but the art style for the whole game. Here's an example of the two styles.

Yoko Tsukamoto & Oxijiyen
Spoiler
Both are examples of the same character. However I will personally be using the Yoko Tsukamoto style, because there's a larger pool of character portraits to choose from.

I've decided to add a link so that you can see the portraits yourself and choose...
http://xboxone.drpg-sosc.com/system/race.html
On the Character Creation page you can find starting stats for each race, information concerning Life Points/Bonus points depending on character age.

Race & Talent
Characters' innate skills, which express themselves in various ways.

Humans: The most common race in Escario that look just like Strangers. Stats are fairly good and can be useful as any class.
Elf: A handsome race that came from the forest. Highly intelligent and skilled with magic.
Dwarf: A tough, war-forged race. Skilled warriors with high attack and defense stats.
Migmy: A race of small, spiritual creatures. Weak but swift, and attuned to holy magic.
Ney: A therianthrope race that came from Eastern climes. Quick reflexes, but are inadept with magic.

Each race has a standart talents, but they can freely exchange them during character creation, regardless of chosen race.[/i]

Fortunate: Blessed with luck on the battlefield, this person is more likely to sense surprise attacks and evade them.
Educated: With the wealth of knowledge they have been accumulating since childhood, they can see the true forms of both equipment and monsters.
Invincible: Born with a naturally hardy body resistant to critical attacks and various status effects.
Intuition: An eye for detail that can ferret out traps hidden in treasure chests.
Wild Eye: Can easily sniff out secrets in Labyrinths thanks to their sharp senses and animal instincts.
Vitality: Spirit filled with vigor. Starting Life Point +2.
Deprived:   No talent, but grants better Bonus Point rolls during character creation.

Now moving on to the class choices...

Fighter: A lively soldier that specializes in close combat. Uses powerful weapons and has immense destructive power.
Knight: A defender that stays in the front row to protect allies. When equipped with heavy armor, they become the shield of the party.
Samurai: A speedy fighter for the front row. Uses one-hit kill sword skills.
Ranger: A mid-range class that can attack from distance with a bow. Attacks are weak, but highly accurate.
Ninja: An advanced class that rattles the enemy. A class that can defend, distract enemies, or assassinate strong targets.
Dancer: A trickster that specializes in singing and dancing. It elegantly fights with thrown weapons and items.
Wizard: A magician that specializes in support magic. Not recommended for close combat.
Cleric: Heals wounded allies with magic. By using blunt weapons, they can attack from mid range.

And last but not least... Character Age.
When creating a Character you have to choose your character's age, however in this game age isn't just a number for aesthetic purposes. The older your character is the more bonus point you get when creating your character, but you also have less life points (and ofcourse if you run out of lifepoints... game over).

On a side-note, the group is set up of 3 frontline fighters such as Fighter/Knigtht/Samurai/Ninja and 3 backrow support/ranged attackers such Ranger/Dancer/Wizard/Cleric. So I won't be choicing 5 frontline fighters because close-range weapons are useless in the backrow.

As a final side-note, there's something called Job change. Basically you can customize your class in-depth. Let's say you choose Samurai, but you want your Samurai to learn Ninja's Hide and Assassination skills that unlock at Ninja level 6. To do so you simply choose (IF YOU WANT A MORE COMPLEX CLASS) Ninja (until Level 6), then switch to Samurai. As for each class' skills, the clickable class name has a link to it's adjacent wiki-page, with information on the class. Or you can also simply just go full Samurai and stay like that, or choose the 3rd option, the "Suprise Me" option, giving me full control over your character's developement...

Members Manga / The Tales of Ouroboros: The Ember Child
« on: April 24, 2017, 07:06:25 AM »
UPDATE: This won't be continued for the time being, as I'm occupied by another project. This MAY get continued some time in the future.

After a small Hiatus, i'm back due to personal reasons. However prior to my hiatus i had begun working with an artist MatsumotoTrix. We began working on one of my short stories as part of my "Tales of Ouroboros" short story series that i've originally wrote in grade school but have been working on rewriting. I want to share our progress and share the work with my fellow Raiders, so share your thoughts, may they be positive or negative. However credit is due where it's deserved. So I'd like to thank Jeff for his great work, as the creative mind when it comes to all the artwork, as I'm simply the simple writer who came up with a story. However he as the artist has helped me breathe life into a lifeless universe that consisted of nothing but words.

(This is not any sort of way to promote him or his work. This is simply my opinion)
He is working with me on commission, however I find him to be worth every penny. He's incredibly talented, a great guy, who's been patient and understanding with me, when things in my life took a turn for the worse. However after having postponed our project, we're back and as a result, i'd like to share this work with you, my fellow Raiders.

'The Ember Child' is the 2nd short story in the series, so there may be an appearance of a character or two that might seem out of place, but that's because these short stories are connected. The mentioned characters are the main characters of the 1st short story in the series, and make an appearance in the remaining stories.
Ouroboros is the symbol for wholeness and infinity, however in relation to my story it's only partially what the concept of the stories are. In this case it's also a symbol for that the story ends where it begans, basically the story end's with the end/death/departure of each main character. These stories are not meant to follow the simple happy-end story, they're meant to be sad, to be dark or simply convey emotions of the negative kind. So if you decide to read this, don't expect a happy end.

Short Synopsis
The tale is set on the Island known as Kuroyama. The youngest member of the Main branch of the family, Junpei, makes a startling discovery. A discovery that will forever shake the foundation of the Island, it's inhabitants and haunt Junpei, for the remainder of his life.

Manga Creations / The Tales of Ouroboros
« on: January 10, 2017, 03:54:35 PM »
The other day I actually came across an old notebook from 8th grade, it had a bunch of small stories I wrote back then, I figured I'd try my best to rewrite them in English, because they're in Danish (my native language).
I actually wrote them for school because we had to write some short stories, and I came up with this stories. They're all rather dark but they were nonetheless some of the first stories I actually wrote. I also chose to rewrite them to improve my writing in general.  So for now I'll post the first one called 'A Sin-Eater's End'.

It follows the basic concept of the Sin-Eater, but eating other people's sins eventually takes a toll on the Sin-Eater. Here the Sin-Eater being created from a Human Soul has a limit, and eventually affect the character badly.  As for the title 'Tales of Ouroboros', my teacher back then actually suggest that title as the main title for my series of short stories, and then name them each something different. 'The Tales of Ouroboros' is based upon Ouroboros, a Serpent eating it's own tale. It's symbolism is the infinite cycle of nature's endless creation and destruction, life and death and despair. You'll understand the point behind this when you read it.

But here's the first story...

A Sin-Eater's End
John just stood there, starring at the young boy. The young boy who had been diagnosed with a terminal and aggressive form of cancer.

A young but slightly pale woman stood next to him, dressed in a black gown with long black hair and gray eyes. She placed her hand on his shoulder. "John, it's time to do your duty." He hesitated for a moment. When Death placed her hand upon his, all his doubts faded from his mind. She spoke to him with gently and deeply caring tone, trying to encourage to do his job.

He exhaled heavily and as he had placed his hand upon the boy's chest, black smoke slowly began to exit through his mouth. The thick black smoke moved towards John and as John inhaled it, he devoured the sins this boy was carrying in his heart.

Upon devouring the boy's sins, the boy noticed John for a second and spoke, "Who are you? Are you Death?" John took the boy's hand, and answer him "No I'm just a Sin-Eater. I came to take away your sins, so that you can sleep peacefully."

Death stepped forward from behind John. She had now taken the shape of a little girl. She sat down next to the boy on his bed, "I'm Death. But don't worry, you'll be reunited with your sister soon." The boy smiled at Death, and as he closed his eyes, she kissed the boy and inhaled the fading spark of light that gave him life.

As John and Death exited the boy's room, the sound of the boy flatlining echoed throughout the house. As they left behind a house with a lifeless boy and grieving family members, John spoke. "How can God allow something so terrible to happen to an innocent boy? His only sin was stealing a few dollars from his father's wallet, just to buy flowers that he could leave by his sister's grave."

Death stopped and looked up at the sky and spoke, "John it's not our place to question God's will. We simply do the job he's given us, no matter how painful it may be." John covered his face with his hands and exhaled heavily. "I don't know for how much longer I can do this. It's one thing if it's a criminal guilty of horrific crimes, but a child?"

Death looked at John. She was saddened by his distress over having to witness an innocent child die. A child who deserved to have lived for many years to come, and not be stricken with cancer.

John's hand began to twitch uncontrollably. He looked at his hand tremble for no apparent reason, but Death was suddenly overcome with fear. She knew that he slowly was beginning to fall apart. After all he was just a human, he was never meant to become a Sin-Eater. She grabbed his trembling hand, and reassured him that everything was fine. "Don't worry John, it's just your body showing signs of your inner conflict for witnessing that boy's death."

John nodded, "Of course. We've been doing this for the past five years, it's only a matter of time before my body would begin to do this."

As they headed towards their next destination, Death, she grabbed John's hand and held it tightly. "For what it's worth John, I am glad to have met you. To have the chance to fall in love with you." John smiled as her words warmed his cold and lifeless heart.

-----

They arrived at a Prison. Death then spoke, "The next one is about to be sentenced to death, for murdering countless innocent young women. John, remember the rule I gave you, don't recall his memories of his sins."

John nodded, and as they entered the Prison, John suddenly felt a terrible presence linger around this horrific place. The closer they came to the Execution chamber, the heavier this terrible presence became.

John collapsed and fell to his knees, he panted and his breathing increased rapidly. "I don't think I can do this. The air feels heavy and there's this very dark presence to this place. I'm having a hard time---breathing."

Death grabbed John's arm and helped him get back up. "That's the presence of this man's sins. The worse his sins are, the heavier the air and the darker his presence becomes. You have to push back, fight it. Don't let it overcome you". John began to grind his teeth in pain, as he tried to fight back against the darkness lingering around this horrific man. He struggled but eventually managed to get back on his feet, and stand against the darkness. As the two entered the Execution chamber, the man looked at John and only spoke one word, "Death?"

John didn't react or speak to this man, and he placed his hand upon this man's chest. Death appeared in the shape of an old lady. As the doomed man saw Death, dread filled his heart and he began screaming in fear. Death had taken the shape of the man's accursed mother, who he hated from the bottom of his heart. He used his accursed mother as an excuse for committing his horrific crimes.

As John began to inhale the man's sins, he lost control and was forced to recall this memories of this man's sins.

-----

A young woman lay bound, blindfolded and with duct tape over her mouth. She awoke and found herself laying on a cold concrete floor. She couldn't see a lot due the blind fold, only thing she could see was a tiny ray of moonlight.

The windows had been covered with black plastic bags. One of the plastic bags had a tiny tear in it, allowing a tiny ray of light from the full moon to shine into the darkened basement.

Suddenly the young woman heard a door open and slam shut, followed by heavy footsteps going down a wooden staircase.

The footsteps began coming towards her, and she frantically began to scream, though her scream was muffled by the duct tape. As she frantically crawled backwards, the ray of light hit something shiny, she was barely able to see what it was. But she knew that it was a large and sharp knife. She looked up and tried to look at his face, but all she was able to make out was a black ski mask. The mysterious stranger grabbed the woman by the hair and chuckled.

-----

John pulled himself out from this memory, before he saw too much. John looked at the man and then ran out of the room. Upon reaching the courtyard, he stopped for a moment and then threw up.

"John what the hell happened in there?", as Death spoke to him, he wiped the remnants of his vomit away.

"I don't know what happened. I just know that I suddenly lost control and was forced to recall his memories". As John explained what happened, Death's face turned even paler than it's normal color. The uncontrollable trembling, the loss of control, all these signs pointed towards that John's time was coming to an end. Death knew this all to well. She had kept the truth from him about his limited time, and that he eventually would fall apart. Human souls are not meant to become Sin-Eaters, because their souls can only hold a limited amount of sins.

Death padded John on the back and reassured him, that it probably was because of heaviness of that man's horrific sins that he lost control and threw up.

John of course believed her, he had no reason not to believe her. As they left the Prison behind them, Death told him of their next destination. "The next one will be a lot easier. It's an elderly woman, who's body has failed her a long time ago. She's been wanting to die for a while, so be at ease John".

John smiled at Death's reassuring words.

-----

As they arrived at a Retirement Home, they found the elderly woman they came for sit on a bench in the backyard.

John knelt down in front of the elderly woman. She looked at him with tears in her eyes, not tears of sadness but tears of joy. She placed her hand on his cheek and spoke to him, "John is that really you?"

John was confused for a second, but when Death appeared she told him of how he resembled her late Husband, in his youth.
He smiled at the elderly woman. He took her hand, "I'm not your husband, but you'll be reunited with him very soon".

As John spoke, the elderly woman smiled and thanked him. Death had now taken the shape of the late woman's husband, the way he looked before he had passed away. As John inhaled her sins, the elderly woman closed her eyes and mumbled her husband's name, "John".

John stood up and stepped away, and he watched Death kneel down before this woman. Death kissed the elderly woman and devoured her spark of light.

As the elderly woman collapsed lifeless against Death, she leaned the woman backwards and placed her lifeless hands upon her lap.

John was slightly saddened by the woman's departure, but he was always saddened when watching Death ending someone's life.

"I hope she had a long life, full of memories and joy", as John spoke, Death intertwined her fingers with his.

"She's leaving behind three children and nine grand children, and two great grand children. She's had a life full of joy and happiness", and just as Death spoke, a nurse came out to check upon the now-dead woman. She quickly ran inside to contact the family, and soon after the elderly woman's family arrived.

John and Death, stood there and watched them cry and mourn their loss. John knew right away, that this woman had lived a long and fruitful life.

"I'm ready to leave". John's words echoed throughout the garden and as they left, he looked over his shoulder one last time. But this time he smiled and whispered, "Be at peace Beatrice".

-----

As the two arrived outside a Hospital, Death spoke to John, "This one may be particularly hard for you John. So no matter what you have to stay strong".

John looked at her with a confused look on his face, but he quickly followed her inside and thought nothing more of it---until he arrived at the room.

He stood on the birthing floor of the hospital. Death stood in front of the door, marked with the number three. She didn't speak a word, and just as John was about to say something, he heard screaming from inside the room.

As he entered the room, he found a woman giving birth. Several nurses were present, and the woman's husband was sitting next to her, holding her hand.

The oldest of the nurses, kept encouraging the woman to push. "Come on Sweetheart, push. Come on, keep pushing. You're almost there".

As the child arrived, it had the umbilical cord wrapped around it's tiny and fragile neck. The older nurse, tried her best to save the baby. The mother began screaming frantically at the nurse, telling her to save her child. "MY BABY! SAVE MY BABY DAMMIT!".

Woman suddenly fell silent as she heard the baby cry, but her silence was caused by something else. She suddenly began to bleed very badly. The nurses frantically tried their best to save her. The husband kept calling out for her, "JENNY! PLEASE STAY WITH ME JENNY! DON'T YOU DARE DIE ON ME DAMMIT!"

John walked up to the dying mother and as he stood there looking down on her, he suddenly had this feeling of déjà vu lingering in his heart.

He placed his hand on her chest, and just as he devoured her sins---he saw death. Who had taken the shape of John.

Despite that John was forbidden to recall a Sinner's memories, he chose to do so anyway. But instead of seeing her memory, he unconsciously had recalled the memory of his own death.

-----

John was walking across the street and spoke himself, "I guess if I cut through that alleyway I can get home quicker". He chose to cut through the alleyway, despite the fact that the alleyway was a chosen spot for muggers to ambush unsuspecting victims.

A Junkie jumped out from behind a dumpster, "Gimme all your money, unless you wanna die!"

He threw his wallet at the Junkie, and as soon as the Junkie had taken all of John's money---she ran. Only to moments later decide to turn around and stab him, so he wouldn't go to the police. John, however hadn't realized yet what just had happened. He just stood there, gently swaying around on the spot. He looked down at his white shirt, watching it slowly turn red.

He collapsed on the ground, and just stared at the sky. As the pool of John's blood slowly became bigger and bigger, he also began to choke upon his own blood. Despite that he now knew he was dying, he couldn't help but stare at the sky slowly turn red, just like his shirt did.

Suddenly the echoing sound of heels walking across the asphalt, had completely stolen John's attention and he tried to move. But he couldn't. He simply didn't have the strength left to move. The echoing sound of someone walking in heels, fell silent. A shadowy figure was now standing over him. He saw a slightly pale young beautiful woman, with long black hair, gray eyes and dressed in a gown---stare down at him.

Her hair waved around as the gentle wind blew through the alleyway. John coughed up some blood, and despite his bloody smile, he still smiled at the young woman.

He used all his strength to speak, "You're---beautiful".

The pale woman smiled, and her now pale skin turned slightly red. She knelt down next to him and caressed his cheek. "You think I'm beautiful?", the pale woman spoke. John nodded as faintly, he didn't have much strength left but he tried his best to nod anyways.

"You know who I am, John?", she spoke to him once more. John nodded again and spoke one word, "Death".

This young woman was indeed Death. However no one had ever before thought of Death as something beautiful. John began to mumble, "You're---very---beautiful". His repeating words echoed through Death's mind, causing her to hesitate to take his life.

John mustered all his remaining strength to place his hand on her cheek, "I'm---ready" he spoke. Death shed a tear over a stranger, she didn't know. As she grabbed his cold hand and held on to it, she smiled at him. "Will you become my Sin-Eater?", her words echoed throughout the alleyway. John nodded without hesitation.

"As long as I---can---look at your beautiful---face". John struggled to speak, but despite her attempt to convince him not to speak, he did so nonetheless. She looked into John's eyes, and then kissed him. She spoke, "With this kiss, I bind your soul to me. With this kiss you'll be bound as my Sin-Eater".

John began to glow. He now glowed even brighter than the sun, and when the glow began to fade, he stood up. "I'm alive?", John said as he began to stretch and move his body.

Death smiled at John, and watched him jump around. "Yes John you're alive. Are You ready to get to work?", she said to him, as she pulled him away from the alleyway. As they left the Alley, she looked over her shoulder one last time, to look at John's now decaying body.

"What is it?", John asked, as he looked to see what she was looking at. Death quickly pulled him with her, and spoke.  "There are a few things you need to know first. First of all there's one rule you will have to follow no matter what. You're not to recall the memories of sin, because it will only hasten the limited time you".

As they walked away she kept looking back at the alleyway, with a somewhat worried look on her face.

-----

John slowly returned the present. He looked at Death, "She's the one who killed me?! Why do I not remember this? Why did I forget about my own death?".

Death looked at John, with a saddened expression on her face, "I'm sorry but I erased your memory". John suddenly became angry with her, and yelled at her "WHAT?! YOU ERASED MY MEMORY?! BUT YOU NEGLECTED TO TELL ME THAT I'M LIVING ON BORROWED TIME! WHY?!".

Death began to shed a tear. Upon seeing this, John's anger calmed. "I'm sorry I shouldn't have yelled at you like that", John caressed her cheek as he apologized. She shook her head, "No John, you have every right to be angry with me. I shouldn't have kept the truth from you. John, I'm sorry". John padded her head and smiled at her and reassured her that it was okay.

As Death, now looking like John, approached the dying woman she began to cry. "I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have stabbed you, I will never forgive myself for that". Death then sat down next to her and placed her hand on the woman's cheek. "Shh, everything will be alright. Just close your eyes and sleep". She then leaned in and kissed the woman and sucked out the fading spark of light.

She held it in her hand for a moment, and looked at john. "What do you want me to do with it? Do you want me to destroy it, and ultimately destroy her?". John shook his head, "Just let her pass away, she's suffered enough".

As John turned around and took a step forward, he suddenly felt an excruciating pain through his body. He collapsed and began screaming and his body began to twitch and spasm.

Death knelt down next to John, she looked into his eyes, "John look at me and listen to my voice. Try to relax, don't fight it, just let go and hold on until it stops". For several minutes, Death just sat there next to John, watching him having some sort of seizure.

When John's body finally began to calm down, he grabbed Death's arm and clung to tightly to it. "What's happening---to---me?". John looked at her with a fearful expression. She held on to him tightly, "It means---your time is about to run out soon". She looked away and tried to wipe away her tears, but John grabbed her chin and forced her to look at him. "Don't cry. You gave me a chance to spend some time with you. Even if it was just borrowed time, it was still worth it. Every second I got to spend with you is worth more than anything else. I'm ready, and no matter what painful end I have to meet, I am glad to have met you".

As John gathered all of his remaining strength to get up, Death gave him a worried look and told him to sit down and relax. John shook his head, "We don't have time to relax. Remember---we still have a Job to do".

John carefully stumbled out of the hospital, Death rushed to his side, "Lean on me John, I'll help you walk".

-----

They arrived at what soon would prove to be their last Job. John looked around, and saw two cars had collided with one another. He then looked at Death, "The man in the blue car drove while drinking and when his bottle slipped out of his hand, he lost control of his car. He slammed right into the red car. However the woman in the red car, managed in a split second, to turn the car enough so that her 16-year old daughter would survive.

As John walked up to the red car, the woman looked at him. "Is my---daughter---alright?", she spoke with whatever little strength she had left. John knelt down next to her car and brushed her hair away from her face, "You can rest easy, she's injured but she'll live. You saved your daughter".

The woman tried to speak, "thank---thank--you". John placed a finger over her mouth, "Shh, close your eyes and rest". John placed his hand upon her chest, one last time, and devoured her sins.

John then stood up and walked over to the man in the blue car, but before he paid that man any attention, he watched Death put the dying woman at ease. Death had taken on the shape of woman's daughter. The woman closed her eyes, and as the remainder of her life was taken away, a tear rolled down her cheek---a tear of joy.

"Don't kill me please! I don't deserve to die!", the man mumbled. John looked at him with disgust, "You deserve whatever terrible place you go to next. You are responsible for taking that woman's life". John pointed at the body of the dead woman.

The man kept crying and kept apologizing, he even tried to convince John he was innocent and that it was the woman's fault. John grew so furious, he hammered his fist into the man's chest and ripped out his sins rather violently. He was supposed to only put his hand on their chests and draw out the essence of their sins, but knowing that his own end was nearing, this miserable excuse of a man only pushed him over the edge.

Death looked over at John, as he ripped out the man's sins. The man was still screaming in agony, but he fell silent, when John ripped his sins in half and devoured them. Death didn't say anything to John, because how he extracted the sins, was a choice of his own. She took the last of the man's life, and when she turned around to speak to John, he collapsed on the ground.

His skin slowly began to dry up, his color slowly faded and cracks began to appear all over his body. John tried to speak, "I wish---to see---one last---sunset". With the snap of her fingers, she had teleported them, to a beach where the sun was setting.

John's head was resting on her warm lap, she held on to his hand tightly. "Stay with me John, please---stay with me". He shook his head, "You know---I can't. My time---has come". He began to cough and his body slowly crumbled.

She clung to John's hand tightly and cried, she begged hit to fight back and stay with her. "I can't---I don't have any strength---left". John looked at the sunset, and chuckled but almost choked, "God, he at least did two things right".

Death looked down at John, "What?", she asked him. "He made sunsets beautiful. And---he created you". She tried to smile at his words but her sadness was too great. John slowly placed his hand upon his chest, and as Death watched the essence of John's sins leave him, she wondered what his sins were. As John devoured his own sins, he recalled the memories of his own sins.

John chuckled, "my sin is---eating the sins---of others. How Ironic". He looked up at Death one last time and smiled. "I'm sorry---I'll always---love---you", John spoke to her with the last remaining strength he had left. She kissed him, and in that moment, what was left of John turned to dust and was scattered in the wind. She hugged his clothes tightly and whispered, "I love you too, John".

Have you recently played a game, that really caught your attention? A game so good you'd recommend it to others? Then why not do it?  Share your thoughts on your recent/favorit game(s) with your fellow MR's, tell us why you love it, what you personally think about it. Give us a little review, give it a rating on the 1-10 scale.

As a hardcore gamer, I personally feel having a thread about what games we're recently playing doesn't quite do it. Having a thread where you can express the pros and cons of your recent/favorit game(s), it's not just about sharing your thoughts on a game. One thing i've learned over the years is a personal review on something like games/animes/mangas/tv shows, doesn't just tell something about the said game/anime/manga/show but also on the reviewer. It tells us what they like, what they don't like, what they're opinions are, how they think. Personally I believe this is one of many ways to get to know people. So let's get to know one another :clapping:

This is a story i've been working on for the past 10 years, re-writting it so many times i've stopped counting. Originally i first began writing it with a friend 11 years ago, and it was then supposed to be a dark fantasy novel, but because it was too painful to keep working on that story after my friend passed away, i chose to skip ahead on the timeline, plus i lacked the writing skills to turn it into a novel. Instead it's set in Tokyo durring the 21st century.

It's centered around Rex (just one of many names he's had in his lifetime) who's immortal. Rex who's stricken with Amnesia, finds himself in the middle of nowhere outside Tokyo. He feels drawn towards the city for a strange reason. When he arrives in Tokyo he meets a girl named Yukiko, with whom he has a strange connection. He is drawn into her world of violence and crime, as she's the youngest of two daughters of the Kuromshima Family. The Kuroshima family is one of five crime families that rule the city's underworld. He gets recruited as a Bodyguard to the daughters, but moonlights as the Kuroshima's Head Enforcer thanks to his immortality and strength.
Ten years later Yukiko chooses to open her own place, rather than working for the family. She opens a Nightclub called 'The White Crow' and with Rex as her Lover and Co-owner, they turn this place into the most popular place in Tokyo and it also serves as Neutral ground for the five Families to meet up, as no one dares to mess with The Kuroshima's now former Head Enforcer Rex. He earns the nickname 'The Kuroshima Monster', and the respect that comes with it.
With his own little family now consisting of himself, Yukiko and the rest of the White Crow employees/friends, can he protect them all from the coming storm that's just beyond the horizon?

Rex's past is explored over the course of the entire story. But his real name is Okuninushi, and he was thousands of years ago cursed by the storm god Susanoo as he escaped the underworld with Susanoo's daughter Suseri, his bow and Koto. Suseri was eventually murdered, but because she's the daughter of a god, she's able to force herself to be reincarnated. Okuninushi vows to find her when she's reborn. Soon after her passing, when overcome with pain and grief, he forces himself into a coma until the time is right. His amnesia is the result of him being comatose for far too long.

Feel free to share your thoughts, criticsm and tips for me to improve my writing.

Prologue
"Most stories always have a happy ending, where the Hero defeats the villains, saves the girl and they live happily ever after. In every story the Villains are the monsters, but in this story, I'm the true monster."

Images of blood and violence flashed through the head of the unconscious man. Images of terrible atrocities, images of a bloodthirsty beast, these images caused the unconscious man to spasm violently. The unconscious man then awoke, screaming in fear. He curled up into a fetus position, and began crying because of these terrible images he had just seen. Images of himself committing countless murders, whether these men were innocent or not was an entirely different matter. The fact alone that he had tortured countless men, broken thousands of bones, ripped thousands of limps apart, caused him to fear what atrocities would come to life now that he was awake.

As he sat there curled up, he heard the sound of a bell. His curiosity got the better of him and cause him to look around. He realized he was sitting in the middle of a large field, and the sound he heard was the bike bell coming from a group of nearby students passing by on their bicycles. As he stood up, the students looked at him. Moments later they began, and he watched them frantically flee for their lives. He wasn't quite sure what just happened, but his focus was taken away when he noticed a nearby road sign.

'Tokyo 15km'

He looked in the direction the sign pointed, and he was marveled at the sight of this urban giant. As he was heading towards this place called the City, he passed a nearby house. He noticed clothing that was hung out to dry. He looked around and with no one in sight, he saw his opportunity to steal something more warm to wear.

As he arrived at the outskirts of Tokyo, he saw the masses of men, women and children. Awestruck by the sight of this wonder, he stood there and watched these people move about with their daily business. He was suddenly pushed to aside by a group of young men, yelling and cursed at him for being in their way.

"HEY YOU BUM, YOU'RE THE MY WAY!"

"GET OUT OF OUR WAY, YOU DIRTY BEGGAR!"

"GET LOST HOBO!"

They kept pushing him around, taunting him and making fun of him. One of the young men, even threw a punch at him and knocked him down.

"SERVES YOU RIGHT BUM!"

The young men now moved on and laughed loudly at him, as they walked away. As they faded into the crowd, a young girl knelt down in front of the injured man.

"Are you hurt?"

She looked at him with a worried look on her face, and as she brushed the dirt of his back, she helped him get back up. She handed him a handkerchief, and pointed at his bloody lip.

"Here you go, that should help to stop the bleeding. My name is Yukiko, what's your name?"

The man looked at the girl and tilted his head to the side, as if he didn't understand what she said. She quickly noticed the hospital bracelet on the man's wrist, which he hadn't removed.

"Is that a hospital bracelet? Let's see what your name is then."

She grabbed his hand and as she looked at the bracelet, the confused man suddenly felt this strange feeling of familiarity towards her. He didn't remember ever seeing her before but he couldn't shake the feeling he somehow knew her.

"Your name is Rex? Do you want me to call the Hospital?"

Rex just stood there and tilted his head to the side, to signal that he didn't understand what she was saying. Suddenly a loud voice echoed from across the street.

"Yuki! Come on, we're late already. We need to go now."

Yukiko looked at Rex, smiled and bowed respectfully to him.

"That's my sister, I'm afraid I have to go now. I hope I'll get a chance to run into you again."

As Yukiko walked away, he caught a glimpse of Yukiko's sister Rin. His heart grew heavy with sadness as he watched Yukiko disappear into the crowd.

[Four Months Later]

It was slowly getting dark, as Rex was searching for a place to sleep. He found a bus stop bench that looked slightly comfortable. As he was about to lay down on the bench, he was interrupted by a very hairy and dirty man who was rather angry with him.

"GET OF MY BENCH YOU ASSHOLE! THAT BENCH IS MINE, GET LOST!"

Rex looked at the bench, then looked at the man's feet with a confused look. The homeless man became even angrier and took a swing at Rex. Rex grabbed his fist and kicked the man's knee, the crunching sound of his knee shattering drowned in his loud agonizing screams.
As the homeless man fell to his knees, Rex grabbed him by the collar and snarled at him. He threw the homeless man aside and walked away, he felt it was too much hassle to fight over a bench.

Rex wandered the streets for a while, trying to find a new place to sleep but had no luck. He then came across an alley where there was a rather loud commotion.
Rex stopped and watched what was happening for a moment, but he was then approached by one of the participants. These participants soon turned out to be a group of Delinquents molesting a young girl.

"Wrong alley bum! I suggest you take a hike, before I have to hurt you!"

Rex then noticed the young girl's face which had previously been obscured, by the obnoxious delinquent telling him to take a hike. It was Yukiko, the kind girl he had met several months ago. As she screamed for his help, one of the other delinquents smacked her and told her to shut up.
The delinquent's action seemed to stir some uncomfortable feelings deep inside Rex. He felt a creeping darkness grow inside his heart, and the sensation of rage slowly overcome him. His hands began to shake uncontrollably. Yukiko stretched her hand out to Rex.

"Rex... please... help... me!"

Yukiko was smacked once again by the same delinquent. Just as was about to move his hand up between her legs, time suddenly seemed to have come to a halt. Rex just stood there trembling with anger and rage, as suddenly a shadowy figure appeared behind him. It simply just stood there with a sinister grin on it's face, and whispered into his ear.

"Kill them!"

Rex looked over his shoulder, as it's words echoed through his head. It seemed he was the only one seeing this shadowy figure, hinting that it was all in his head.

The delinquent in front of Rex threw a punch at him. He caught the delinquent's fist and grabbed him by his throat and suddenly looked at him with a strange and creepy grin. He then turned to his left and kneed the delinquent in the rib cage, with such speed and force that his ribs broke and threw him against the brick wall. The force caused the delinquent to hit his head so hard that the side of his skull shattered, leaving a large bloody stain on the wall as he collapsed.

Two of the delinquents rushed towards Rex. He took several punches like they were nothing, and even though he bled he stood firm, holding his ground. Rex ducked, spun around and kicked the legs away under one of them. He then kicked the falling delinquent in the spine, crushing several spinal joints. The sound of shattering bones and screams quickly drowned Yukiko's cries for help.
Rex quickly got up and took another punch to the face, but quickly grabbed the delinquent by the head. He pushed the delinquent towards the brick wall, pressed his head against the cold bricks. Rex screamed so aggressively and loudly at the delinquent, that it caused him to wet his pants. Rex then began bashing the delinquent's head against the brick wall repetitively with increasing strength, until his skull shattered and there was barely anything left of the delinquent's head.

The remaining delinquent threw Yukiko aside and aimed his gun at Rex. He emptied the gun's magazine, filling Rex with bullet holes.

Rex just stood there for a moment, breathing heavily but then screamed loudly in agony. He slowly began walking towards him. He stepped on of the other delinquent's heads, the one who's spine he had shattered moments ago. He stopped and looked down at him as the delinquent coughed up blood and tried to breathe.

Rex snarled at him and with one firm stomp, he caused the delinquent's skull to explode. When he then turned his attention back at the last of delinquents, Rex saw him launch forward with a knife in his hand. He stabbed Rex multiple times and cut his throat, causing a lot of blood to spray back at him. Rex places his hand over his throat, and the delinquent began laughing frantically. When Rex had realized that this wound suddenly had healed, he removed his hand, showed his teeth and began to snarl aggressively at him.

The delinquents smirk faded as he realized what was happening. Dread filled the young man's heart, and when Rex knocked him down, he knew this was the end of the line.

Rex knelt down on top of the delinquent, and viciously began beating on his head. With every punch Rex threw, the delinquent watches the his own life slowly wither away. After an alarming amount of punches the delinquent was dead, but that didn't stop Rex from continuously beating the dead delinquents skull. With each consecutive punch, the delinquent's blood covered Rex more and more.

Someone suddenly grabbed his wrist, he was about to snarl as a respond but hesitated when he realized it was Yukiko's hand. She knelt down next to him, hugged him and pled him to stop.

"Please stop Rex. He's dead, there's no need to keep going. Please calm down."

Rex listened to Yukiko's soothing voice for a moment and calmed down. When he had realized what he had done he frantically tried to crawl away. His own fear was suddenly washed away, when he heard Yukiko's sobbing voice.

"Can you please take me home? I think i sprained my ankle, so I can't walk on my own."

Yukiko kept tried to stand on her feet but kept collapsing. Rex knelt down with his back turned towards her, indirectly telling her that he'll carry her. As Rex and Yukiko left the bloody alley behind, she leaned her head against his back, gently smiling and mumbling to herself.

"I don't think I've ever felt this save before."

Rex looked over his shoulder, but she shook her head and told him to ignore what she just said.

[30 Minutes later]

They arrived at a road that lead uphill to a gigantic estate, surrounded by a massive wall.

"That large mansion at the end of the road, that's my house..."

Yukiko fell unconscious. Rex looked at her, but knew she wasn't badly injured. He rushed up the road and when he arrived at the end of the road, he noticed a large gate guarded by several men dressed in black. As he walked towards them, they noticed he carried someone and before he had an idea what was going on. An alarm rang and all hell broke loose. Rex was now suddenly surrounded two docent armed men. A young woman suddenly appeared, Rex quickly recognized her as Yukiko's sister Rin.

"Yuki? Yuki can you hear me? Ryuu carry my sister inside and call the doctor immediately."

Yukiko's sister and the man named Ryuu quickly disappeared from Rex' sight. A voice echoed over the mens radios and ordered them to surround him and detain him.
Rex watched two docent heavily armed men equally dressed in black suits, come rushing from inside the estate. He was quickly thrown down onto the ground, handcuffed and had a black bag put over his head.

Several minutes passed as he was dragged across the compound, and suddenly thrown into a dark room.

The bag was removed from Rex's head and he found himself chained to a steel chair. He quickly notices the chair is bolted to a cold hard concrete floor stained with dried blood. Before he has a chance to look at his surroundings, a fist comes flying towards his face. The feeling of his reddened cheek, the soreness and stinging pain quickly vanished when he received a punch to the gut. After several painful punches, Rex began spewing up blood. The cold concrete floor which was stained with dried blood, was now painted upon once more with the blood of another victim.

Rex looked upon his Interrogator, only to get his face hit once more. The interrogator stopped for a moment and cleaned his hands, as he began to question Rex.

"Are you done with being quiet tough guy, or do I have to keep beating you until you talk?"

Rex looked at his Interrogator, only to then look away in silence. The Interrogator put on brass knuckles, and prepared to beat Rex again. Despite receiving punch after punch, Rex remained silent. He looked up suddenly, as if he was starring at the sky. His lips began to move, he only uttered a name.

"Yuki..."

The name angered the Interrogator, and he began beating Rex even harder as he yelled at him.

"SHUT THE HELL UP, YOU BASTARD! DO NOT EVER MENTION HER NAME AGAIN! SAY IT AGAIN AND I WILL KILL YOU!"

[In the meantime]

Yukiko was watching the bloody interrogation from her father's office. With tears in her eyes, she kept begging her father to stop the interrogation.

"Father! Please stop it, he didn't do anything to me. All he did was save me."

Her pleas fell upon deaf ears. She kept pulling his jacket, and kept crying out her pleas to stop. Despite his repetitive hand wave, telling her to stop bothering him, Yukiko didn't stop. Sadao became more and more annoyed by his daughter's bothersome behavior. Her constant yanking of his jacket, her annoying cries of help, pushed him eventually to get furious and raise his hand.

He turned around and slapped her across the cheek. As she collapsed on the floor, she bursted in tears. One of Sadao's men suddenly yelled out.

"BOSS! SOMETHING'S HAPPENING IN THE INTERROGATION ROOM!".

Sadao turned around and looked at the monitor, and saw Rex stare directly at the security camera, with a completely different look on his face. He had a more serious and stern look upon his face.

Sadao looked back at his daughter. It somehow seemed that his prisoner reacted to Yukiko being slapped, for whatever strange and mysterious reason.

When the Interrogator noticed it and he was about plant another punch upon Rex's face, Rex tore his handcuffs apart.

He grabbed the Interrogator's fist and with one quick twist, he broke every bone in the man's arm. He had reduced a man three times his own size into a sobbing man begging for mercy. Rex stood in front of the kneeling Interrogator, he places his hands on each side of the man's skull and began squeezing. He kept squeezing until his head exploded, and blood flew in every direction.

In the hallway outside the Interrogation Room, several armed men gathered and they aim their pistols at the door. For a brief moment silence had filled the air, but the silence was quickly drowned by the loud sound of Rex's fists banging against the thick steel door.

The men looked at one another, and nodded in agreement.

"As soon as the door opens, we'll shoot him."

The men exhaled with satisfaction when the banging stopped. However their brief moment of joy was interrupted, as a massive dent suddenly appeared in the door. The door was ripped out of it's hinges and thrown forward with such force, that one of the men was thrown against a pillar and crushed by the door, killing him instantly.
The remaining men looked at the bloody corpse of their friend, and aimed their pistols once more at where the door once was. The room was completely pitch black, but when they saw a shadow move in the darkness, they fired off their guns in panic.

Thinking they had killed Rex, they lowered their guard. When suddenly a shadow came flying out from the darkness. Rex now stood holding on of the men by the throat and had him pinned against the wall. He was covered in bullet holes and blood. The men were just about to panic, when reinforcement arrived. Rex looked around, a dark and sinister grin widened and intimidated the men.

He turned his attention back to the man that he pinned against the wall. He grabbed the man's right arm by the wrist and started pull his arm.

The silence was quickly drowned by the sound of pop, as the man's shoulder was ripped out of it's joint and his screams echoed throughout the hallway.
Rex didn't stop, instead he kept pulling harder and harder. As the man began screaming louder and louder, the fabric began to tear and the others now saw the man's bare skin begin to tear apart. Rex gave the arm one last pull, and completely ripped the man's arm off. Blood spew out from the man's open wound. the others panicked and screamed, as they tried to run away.

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!"

"WHO THE HELL IS THIS?!"

"WHAT KIND OF MONSTER IS THIS?!"

Rex flew after one of the panicked men and began bashing his head in with the severed arm he was holding. He kept bashing and beating the man's head until there was nothing left.

When reinforcements arrived they tried to keep Rex busy, long enough for Sadao and Yukiko to evacuate. Rex spotted Sadao, and frantically slaughtered his way through the reinforcements, leaving a trail of mutilated bodies and blood soaked walls behind him.

Rex had almost caught up with Sadao, but additional backup had now shown up armed with razor sharp swords. They managed to get the drop on Rex, and turned him into a pin cushion. They managed to immobilized him with a multitude of blades piercing vital points on Rex's body.

Yukiko looked back at him, and tried to reach out to him. As she called out his name, images flashes through his head. These images were of a familiar woman from his shrouded past, who looked awfully a lot like Yukiko.
Rex tried to reach out to Yukiko. He was suddenly interrupted as a sword pierced his hand and the tip was buried into the wooden floor.

The images inside his head suddenly shifted, and he now saw images of this woman's violent death. He began to struggle and scream, as the images grew more violent.
He tried to reach out to this woman he saw images off, but his efforts were in vain. He screamed out her name.

"SUSERI!"

It was clear that Rex was very delusional about the current situation. Sadao saw this and used it to his advantage. He grabbed his daughter's arm and ran. Yukiko screamed in pain, and asked her father to stop.

"Father you're hurting me, please stop."

Yukiko's painful scream seemed only to agitate Rex further. As he began to struggle more violently, the men tried to keep him immobilized but were quickly overcome.

Rex pulled his pierced hand away with all his strength, splitting almost the entire hand in two. When his hand started to heal, the men panic. Rex grabbed the man in front of him, and as he pulled him close, he bit the man in the throat and removed a large chunk of his jugular. The man quickly collapsed as blood spew out from his open throat, as he tried to cover it with his hand. Rex watched the dying man, take his final breath.

As Rex freed himself from the remaining swords. He was left with wounds that would be life threatening to most people, but these wounds healed very quickly. He violently slaughtered the remaining men with such viciousness, that his behavior resembled that of a rabid animal.

He then returned chase after Sadao, with the intent to viciously murder him as well. Just as he was about to grab him, Yukiko escaped her father's grip and threw herself at Rex. She wrapped her arms around Rex's bloodied body, hugging him tightly and called out to him.

"Rex! Please listen to my voice and calm down."

Her sobbing voice once more seemed to reach him once more. He suddenly stopped moving. It almost seemed like he had come to a complete stop and froze dead in his tracks.
Everything around him suddenly seemed to have slowed down, it almost seemed like time stood still.
He looked down and saw Yukiko look at him with tears in her eyes. Through this tearful expression he saw her smile. He suddenly began to feel warm inside, almost as if the sun was shining upon him for a brief moment.

Rex collapsed on the floor. When he began to regain control of himself, he looked around and saw the massacre he had been the cause of. He frantically crawled into a corner. Yukiko knelt down in front of him, and placed her hands on his cheeks. She tried to get him to look at her. Rex eventually gave in and as he looked at her, she smiled at him and made him forget his sorrows.

Yukiko's sister Rin, then showed up and saw blood, dead bodies and severed limps everywhere.

"Oh my god! What the hell happened here?!"

Rin looked for her sister, and when she saw her little sister knelt down in front of the stranger covered in blood, she quickly connected the dots. After everyone had calmed down, Yukiko started to explain to her father what had happened earlier.

[Several Minutes Later]

After having told her father what had happened earlier that same night, Sadao tried to apologized to Rex for having him captured and beaten. Rex just tilted his head, not understanding a word that was being said to him.

Rin looked at Rex with fascination. Her smirk suggested that she had something in mind and the way she looked at Rex, it was clear that it would involve him. She then looked at her father with a large smile.

"Father I'd like you to hire this young man. You've seen what happened here, he's clearly not normal. I believe he could be of great use to this family. Hire him as a bodyguard for Yuki and me."

Sadao looked at Rex and stroked his long black goatee with fascination, and nodded in agreement. He then stretched out his hand towards Rex. While Rex just stood there slightly dumbfounded, not understanding the situation, Yukiko grabbed Rex's handed and help him shake Sadao's hand.

As Yukiko and Rin welcomed Rex to the family, Rin looked at him with a mischievous smirk. Rin had ulterior motives for having Rex recruited into the family.

Over the next several months Rex spending most of his time training and being taught how to fight. Akira the former head of the family, Yukiko and Rin's grandfather, had hired an old friend by the name of Hikaru, to train Rex.

Hikaru was a former Special Forces soldier. When Akira approached him, Hikaru declined at first, but when he learned about Rex he was fascinated by the tale of this young man and had to meet him for himself.

Hikaru eventually agreed to Akira's proposal and recruited his former brother-in-arms, Kenj, to help him train Rex. As time went on and Rex's training progress, Hikaru and Kenji developed feelings of friendship and loyalty towards Rex.

Years later when Yukiko opened up a Nightclub called 'The White Crow', Hikaru and Kenji remained loyal and joined them. Kenji immediately became the club's Bouncer, where as Hikaru helped Yukiko and Rex run the club, considering that he had experience as a former bar owner. But he also became the club's hostess, as customers eventually came to like Hikaru's cross-dresser persona 'Hikari'.

Soon after others joined Rex and Yukiko, at the 'White Crow Club' which eventually became the most popular spot in Tokyo.

Develop Your Story / White Crows (WARNING! Contains Violence)
« on: October 29, 2016, 05:52:11 AM »
I've for the last decade been working on this story, some of the times i've been spending time on rewriting parts. It's still a work-in-progress, and subject to change at any given time, though the major plot and characters are set in stone.

The story follows the "What if" concept. We based the two main character's origin on the tale of Okuninushi.
I recommend reading up on it, because it's one of my favorit tales.
Anyway... the tale goes that after Okuninushi and Suseri (Storm god Susanoo's daughter) fled from the underworld, when the couple escaped Susanoo advised Okuninushi to fight his brethren with the weapons he had stolen from Susanoo.

This is where the "What if" concept kicks into play. I came up with the idea that he'd have a more human response. Rather than advising Okuninushi, he cursed him out of jealousy and anger for stealing his weapons and beloved daughter. As a result Okuninushi was cursed with Immortality.

The story i chose to work with is set in the 21st century, in a modern Japan. Here five crime families have claimed a part of Tokyo as their own turf. Rex awakens outside Tokyo stricken with Amnesia and he's feeling drawn towards Tokyo by something or someone. He then meets a damsel in distress, Yukiko, whom he saves and as a result he get's pulled into her world. A world of crime and violence, as she's the youngest daughter and Heir to the Kuroshima family's wealth. The Kuroshima family is considered the lesser evil of the five families, as they don't condone drugs or forced prostitution.
Rex eventually get's recruited and the Kuroshima family utilizes his Immortality by turning him into their secret weapon and Enforcer.

The best example i can think of is the Kuroshimas are Corleone family of this story. And for those who don't know who they are... one word... Godfather.

Anyway so i wanted to share a small part of what i've written so far. Get some feedback, tips, thoughts, etc.
I'm by no means a professional writer, i'm just an amateur writer but remember though i don't really write to create a novel i merely write it down so i'll later on have reference material for the artists, and for myself if i have to write a script version of the story.
Hope to hear what you guys think and what tips for improvement you have for me.

As he began walking towards the door, he stepped on one of the former Interrogator's eyeballs causing it to explode as well.

In the hallway outside the Interrogation Room, several armed men gathered and they aim their pistols at the door.

For a moment silence had filled the air, but the silence was quickly drowned by the loud sound of Rex's fists banging against the thick steel door. The men exhaled with satisfaction when the banging stopped.

Rex gave the arm one last pull, and completely ripped the man's arm off. Blood spew out from the man's open wound, and the others panicked and tried to run away.
Rex flew after one of the others and began bashing that man's head in with the severed arm. He kept bashing until there was nothing left of the man's head.

The reinforcements tried to keep Rex busy, long enough for them to evacuate Sadao and Yukiko.
Rex spotted Sadao, and frantically slaughtered his way through the reinforcements, leaving a trail of mutilated bodies and blood soaked walls behind him.

Rex had almost caught up with Sadao, but six men armed with razor sharp Katanas appeared out of nowhere and pierced his body, quickly turning him into a human pin cushion.
One of the blades had severed his spin in his lower back, and another jammed into his left thigh. Another one had pierced his right hand and the tip was burrowed into his shoulder. Another one of the Katanas pierced through his heart, and one was sitting in the back of his neck severing his vocal cords. The last of the Katanas was shoved sideways into his hip.

Rex was now completely immobilized. Sadao stopped for a moment and turned around and was about to laugh at the immobilized monster that he believed had hurt his daughter.
Rex struggled and let out a loud and fearsome roar, that echoed throughout the Kuroshima Estate.
Sadao grabbed Yukiko forcefully by the arm and dragged her with him as they left. Yukiko screamed in pain and told her father that he was hurting her.

Rex heard her cry, he roared even louder.

He grabbed the man in front of him and pulled him closer. He pushed the man's face closer and closer to the blade that had pierced his neck, the man's screams quickly fell silent. With his left arm Rex removed the Katana that was jammed into his thigh. The remaining men panicked, spread out and tried to run away. Rex threw the Katana with such force after one of the men that the blade pierced his chest and pinned him against the wall. He removed the remaining blades, and violently slaughtered the four remaining men that tried to escape.

Rex then started to chase after Sadao and Yukiko again. When he managed to catch up to him Sadao and his two personal bodyguards began shooting after Rex, hoping it would slow him down. But it didn't and Sadao just watched the monster come closer and closer.
Rex was so close that he could almost reach Sadao, but he frantically shot at Rex until his gun began to click. In panic Sadao threw his gun at Rex, as his hand came closer.
Just as he was about to grab him, Yukiko threw herself at Rex. She wrapped her arms around Rex's bloodied body, hugging him tightly and yelled loudly at him.

"PLEASE STOP IT! PLEASE! PLEASE CALM DOWN!".

Yukiko's tearful cries seemed to reach Rex. He suddenly stopped moving. It almost seemed like he had come to a complete halt. Everything around him seemed to have slowed down, it seemed as time almost stood still.
He looked down and saw Yukiko look at him with tears in her eyes. Through this tearful expression he saw her smile. He suddenly began to feel warm inside, almost as if the sun was shining upon him for a brief moment.
For a split second he saw the image of someone else, someone who looked almost like an older Yukiko.
Rex collapsed on the floor, and began to regain control of himself. As he looked around and saw the blood and death everything, he frantically crawled into a corner.
He curled up and kept waving Yukiko away, making hand gestures that she shouldn't come closer.
Yukiko knelt down in front of him, placing her hands on his cheek. She tried to get him to look at her. Rex eventually gave in and as he looked at her, she smiled at him and managed to calm him down.
Yukiko's sister Rin, showed up and saw the massacre that had taken place.

"Holy hell! What the hell happened here?!".

Rin looked for her sister, and when she saw her little sister knelt down in front of a mysterious man covered in blood, she quickly realized what had happened. After everyone had calmed down, Yukiko stood up and walked over to her father to try and explain what really happened to her.

"Father! I hope you'll finally listen to me. That man over there, he never laid a finger on me. He saved me from some bad people that wanted to hurt me".

Now that her father was finally listening, Yukiko was able to explain to her father what had truly transpired.
Rin looked at Rex with a fascinated smile on her face.

"I appreciate that you save my little sister, so please do not take what I'm about to do the wrong way. I'm simply just curious".

Rin grabbed one of the Katanas and attacked Rex with it. And with one swing she severed his head from his neck, and watched the head fall onto the ground. Rex tried to grab his head but fumbled around a few times, until he finally was able to grab it. As he placed the head back on his neck, the wound began to heal quickly.
Rin smiled at him, and as she turned to her father she tried to convince him to recruit Rex.
She spend several minutes convincing her father, why he should hire Rex as a bodyguard to the girls.

Sadao looked at his eldest daughter and nodded.

Welcome Center / Carshald Reporting for Duty!

Greetings Folks

I never thought about actually posting here but figured i might aswell, so here we go!

My name's Jacob aka Carshald. Carshald's not really my writer's name, rather it's a decade old name i came up with back in the day when i was a teen and spend most of my time playing D&D with friends.
Decade old? You might wonder how old i am? If you ask me directly i'll always tell you the same. TOO OLD! XD
In all honesty i'm just 28, but really you can never be too old to be passionate about animes and manga!
I originally joined this forum, in hopes of finding an artist who can help me fulfill a decade long dream of finally creating my story "White Crows".

It original began as an idea between two friends, who wanted to write a dark fantasy novel. But evenetually one of the friends passed away. The other friend has dreamed for a decade, to one day be able to bring it to life through a manga. And hence i'm now here.

We came up with the idea to base it off  the tale of Okuninushi, which in my opinion is an amazing and beautiful tale. Our story follows a now amnesia stricken Okuninushi who's been cursed with immortality, He finds himself drawn towards Tokyo. Original it was a more fantasy themed, set several centuries earlier, but since i couldn't get myself to continue that story, i chose to skip ahead and set it in the 21st century.
To make the story short, the Amnesia stricken immortal man, formerly known as Okuninushi feels drawn towards Tokyo by an unknown bond he has to another person. He get's pulled into a world of crime and violence, when he gets recruited by the Kuroshima Family, in an attempt to end the long and bloody war between them and the other four families that rule Tokyo.

Aside from being a Manga and Anime lover, i'm also a hardcore gamer. When i don't spend my days working on my story or having anime marathons, i game like there's no tomorrow! XD
I guess that's it for me...

Manga Artists Wanted / Artist Wanted (Possible Collab)
« on: October 20, 2016, 07:47:23 AM »
So i've been trying for a while to make this story work, but eventually i ended up choosing to hold this story back, until i found the right artist because i wanted the art style to be mature and to be more seinen than shonen. The times i tried working with any artists who responded, they were mostly too young and ended up demanding too many changes to the story, which i wasn't comfortable with.
The artist i'm truly am looking for is someone who's comfortable with Seinen, violence and blood, because the story is somewhat dark. I am ofcourse looking for someone to collaberate with because i'm not just merely interested in an artist who'll draw anything i say, rather i'm more interested in an artist who shares his thoughts and ideas he has for the story, or rather the smaller plots, since the major plot and characters ARE set in stone. But also he/she should ofcourse share their ideas and thoughts on things such as character design as well. I mean i'm no artist but i do have some ideas of what some of the character roughly might look like.

The story revolves around an Amnesia stricken protagonist who goes by the name Rex, though later on in the story there's an explanation as to why he's using the name Rex.  Rex wakes up outside Tokyo, feeling drawn towards it and in order to find out why he heads there. Before he knows it he's pulled into a world of crime and violence, and he's recruited by one of the five families that rule Tokyo's underworld. At first he's assigned as a Bodyguard to the two daughters of Head of the Kuroshima family, but eventually becomes their frontline Enforcer. He eventually earns the title "The Kuroshima Monster", which becomes known to everyone in Tokyo.

The story focuses on Rex's struggle with his inner demons, his search for answers and his relationship with the youngest of the two Kuroshima daughters. The story also focuses on an all out war between the Kuroshima and the four other families, and the attempted hits on the Youngest Kuroshima daughter and her friends. There's a evil mastermind plotting against Rex, but can he find the strength to fight back and protect everyone he's come to care about?

I shared a part of the story on the 'Develop Your Story' board to show a sample of my story.

Manga Artists Wanted / Artist Wanted (For Project)
« on: June 21, 2016, 11:52:24 AM »
Hey

I'm an amateur writer who's looking for an artist, who's interested in working on one of the few stories i'm working on. I'm not just looking for a mindless artist, i'm more interested in hearing your imput aswell.
FOR THE RECORD IT'S NOT COMISSIONED WORK!
Like i said i've got a few stories, basically three to chose from, maybe four but that depends on your style.
Because the 4th one is a much more mature and more intented for the adult crowd. And NO I DON'T REFERE TO HENTAI OR ECCHI! I'm talking maturity of what the characters say, do, the art style. As an example i mean like the Dark Knight comics of the batman universe. They're more mature and more dark than the comic version everyone knows.
I'm not looking for someone  who works for a commission, i'm looking for a co-creator for a project, who also gets to voice is thoughts and feels about our project.

The 1st of the stories is a rather short one, and pretty simple in it's story. It's basically Slice of Life and Drama with a tiny touch of some fantasy elements. It's simple and short yes, but it's also a VERY emotional story too, and it doesn't have a happy ending.

The 2nd i don't have a name for it yet, but it's Fantasy, Action, Comedy, Romance. It's set partially in the real world and in a fantasy world. A catastrophy has caused a tear in reality and allowed monsters to pour into our world, now young people with extraordinary powers are trained to fight these monsters and protect people.

The 3rd has the same genres but it's set in a more modern world, which is completely fictional.
The main character was at the center of a great disaster, and now as a result he's at the center of the world's biggest conflict. He's branded a murder and traitor, and is framed for murdering the royal family.
He sets out to clear his name, and meets a cast of interesting variety of characters along the way.

I don't wanna put too much talk about the 4th one because that one is much more personal and important to me, so if i like your style and it feels right, i'll fill you in on it but basically it's called White Crows and it's a Drama, Gangster, Action, and with roots into Japanese mythology.

If you're reading this i really hope i've stoked your interest, i'll be looking forward to hear from you!

Sincerely
Jay

General Manga writer discussions / Amateur writer looking for tips
« on: November 07, 2014, 04:51:22 PM »
Hello

I've recently started working on a "story" for a manga but since i'm not the best writer, here's where my question comes into play. Are there any tips or suggestions as how to write it down so it doesn't sound/feel boring or like a pure wall of text? I'm seriously an amateur writer. I haven't really ever written like real story or anything the likes, so i'm pretty much looking for tips and pointers so it won't make one think after 5 minutes of reading "YAAAAWN!".

Sincerely
Jay
