Days of Ruin
I shaded my eyes as I gazed in a skywards direction, as an infinite blue met my eyes. Even when the land was dying, the sky had continued to smile as if nothing had happened. For two whole years the Earth had been liberated of rain leading the world into massive drought that had caused the deaths of many inhabitants of earth. Being a person who dwelled upon the rain, the wait was unbearable and it was starting to seem like it would never rain again. I stepped inside the cool interior of the house and looked out the window, only to notice that for the first time in two years, dark clouds had formed from the once blue sky. I caught the eyes of many citizens as they ran out, into the intensifying heat of the sun and waited. Sure enough it came, but not like everyone was expecting……
We watched as the rain fell slowly, as if in slow motion, but when the first drop hit the ground I knew something wasn’t right. It was at that instant that the world made a turn for the worst………
Screams pierced my thoughts as I turned towards the source, only to see various people screaming in agony as their bodies burned away leaving nothing behind. But that wasn’t the half of it; three quarters of the house I was in had already vanished leaving the remaining quarter of the house I was under. Judging from the condition of the roof I could tell that any minute I would die like everyone else, the thought of dying alone made me shiver as I cowered to the corner of the room, there I waited for the pain to hit me.
Since the very start I had already given up on life, yet I was only human, the fear of death had kept me alive for the past two years, but today I had decided to accept it. Everyone was gone. There was nobody left to cry for my death, nobody to pity me and nobody to mourn for me after I disappear. I squeezed my eyes shut and waited for the sad and painful death I was about to experience, I thought over the good times I had in life only to realise there was none. Throughout my entire lifespan I had only done one thing that had satisfied me, that was the creation of five umbrellas. To other people, this may have seemed extremely idiotic, but to me it was the most exciting thing that had happened in my life. I chuckled to myself with my eyes still squeezed shut as I realised I was thinking like an old man, though I was barely one fifth of that age. Time passed ever so slowly as I waited in silence for my final moment on the earth, only to realise it wasn’t coming……
Slowly I opened one eye and looked up towards where the roof had once been, only to see a turquoise umbrella hovering over me. “C-cloud?” I questioned, confusingly. It amazed me that I had recalled the name of an umbrella I hadn’t touched for years, but I was more surprised at the sight of an umbrella hanging midair, no tricks no nothing. A soft voice echoed inside my head, causing my mind to jump.
Thank you for remembering me Sie, now I shall use this life you granted me to do something useful.
Although I didn’t recognize the voice I could tell it was Cloud speaking, his gentle voice soothed my mind allowing myself to completely understand what he meant as if he were sharing his thoughts. Another voice entered my mind as I noticed the other four umbrellas folded and in a group next to me. Many years ago when I created the umbrellas, I gave each a name representing the sky and colour. Nehehehehe I get to see Sie again!!!!! The sudden voice shocked me as I looked down at the group; strangely enough I was able to figure out who it was instantly. A cute, bubbly personality seemed to fit the colour blue perfectly and the name just clicked naturally, personality > blue > sky were my thoughts at the time as I simply stared towards them. Suddenly it struck me, W-wait a second! They’re talking right? The umbrellas were talking to ME and I could understand! What exactly is going on here?
A sudden jolt of pain struck my head, interrupting my thoughts; don’t ignore someone while they’re talking! I managed to make out before I realised the pain had been inflicted by a bright yellow umbrella that was now hanging in the air. His name was storm, symbolising a arrogant and aggressive personality.
I forgot to say that the storyline is a bit twisted as well >.<
