break Room / Anime community is acting weird on YouTube
« on: April 11, 2019, 11:04:59 PM »
This all started with the Vic accusations. Actually it was spear headed with that.

It originally started with anti-SJWs commenting on how it’s wrong to use words like patriarchy and gamer gate in anime dubs. They see it as spreading propaganda.

But now that funimarion is being targeted, I’m seeing a rise of really extreme mentality.
1) companies that license anime need to be 100% accurate.
2) false stories where the Japanese authors hate how funimation  is ruining their anime.
3) Funimation VA need to all be fired because they were not on Vic side
4) funimation will be axed by Toei (no proof) because VA are destroying the property

So I’m seeing the ethical points being raised. But in the back, I’m seeing anti-feminism, anti-diversity, and anti-you name it.

So is no one seeing it happen like what occurred in the Gamergate days?

They will pretend it’s about ethics but it’s not.

break Room / Digibro Vs Destiny Debate
« on: April 03, 2019, 04:11:16 PM »
I am barely familiar with digibro. I first saw a video of his like three weeks ago. Then I see him debating on “good points” within a debate and why proving a point is not important. This is some epic fail stuff. Because everyone knows what is true apparently.

What’s even funnier, people see him as a creditable source of info.

This is just poison.

I think it’s a common assumption that manga and anime is “mostly” just entertainment.  People like to talk about surface level discussion points, like shipping, theories, and power levels etc. but this is mostly when the story is still on going.

Then people talk about stories from twenty years ago and actually place an ideological lenses and people find it more applicable. Because time has passed.

But when people use an ideological lense in real time, people get mad.

What are your thoughts on this behavior?

My opinion is you have the option to read or watch an interpretation, so why get mad? You still have your story, it’s not ruined. why get pissed?

How do you sing your original song without copying someone’s else’s rhythm or beat, whatever it’s called.

I feel like I’m singing a Weird Al song.

Movies and TV shows / Best Death Scene
« on: December 11, 2017, 04:21:09 PM »
I hate dumb deaths scenes by main characters. Red shirts can get squashed, I don’t care. But don’t let main characters die in uncool ways.

For example, I hated all the deaths from Kong: Skull island. Seriously, if they were going for insignificant deaths, they won.

So share a death scene that deserves recognition. Movie or tv.

General Manga writer discussions / How can you say it’s bad?
« on: November 28, 2017, 04:53:03 AM »
Money is the great equalizer, you either have it or you don’t. It can be used to measure what truly is effective or isn’t. So let’s move to my point.

What is a good story from a writers perspective? It’s kinda an easy answer if you are taught it by writing gurus. You can learn the answer from in a class, a book, a YouTube video.

However, what is the point of a story? I think the point of a story is either to entertain or teach. Most books/manga/anime we read are for entertainment reasons. At least in our circle.

So, how can you say Dragon ball, DBZ, DBGT or DB super sucks from a writing perspective? The money and fandom say otherwise. Even if it was nostalgia, wouldn’t the first time around prove it sucks. Or the Japanese markets from the beginning shun the bad writing?

My point here is that you can('t) live with the paradigm of what story/character development is. There is more to it since obviously authors capture something more that what is in a character arc.

MR Pub / Web Developer/Design Offer (I can make you a website)
« on: November 25, 2017, 02:38:17 PM »
So this is one of many attempts to create an additional source of  income to pay for my future manga.

Okay. Here is the pitch.

"Are you in a desperate need for a platform to showcase your comic without compromising your intellectual property?  Do you want to have your own website that offers your opinions in the form of new journalism? or do you want to combine the two?"

"Do you want your website to look like you want it, and not appear like a generic blog website?"

"thats where i come in."

ahh, forget the pitch.

If you want me to make you a website, i will do it. I'm still trying to find the perfect homepage design that meets all the needs required for a comic/artist portfolio. My website is me still playing with the design. If you have a design in mind, i'll make it for you.

if you noticed my bottom links, you would see.

Also, if you know a small business who needs a website, you can get a 10-15% referral fee.

i'm currently doing a construction website for this person. This is the basic design without giving you guys his info.

As an additional incentive, Mangaraider members can get a free site made for them if they promise to spread the word. I will even design pages the way you want them. If you want me to mimic a website design, i can do that too. Just know that you will be hosting your own site. Basically, it will cost you like minimum $12 a month to run your website.
