Ok since my drawing skills are not there yet I will be posting my artworks for critique here http://forums.mangaraiders.com/index.php/topic,10091.0.html on the forum.

Yeah and my artwork usually looks more like illustration but I guess becoming an illustrator isn't a bad career choice either, maybe eventually I will get good enough to become concept artist.

Ryan I will keep and eye on those websites and forums :D

Hi DBnext yes after I finished I thought that the lines were too solid I just tried to make the shades darker and I could not do it wit a lead pencil so I've used black coloured pencil. Maybe I also pressed too hard to get them dark perhaps I  need to buy a really dark pencil... On the second picture it is not a woman but a guy with long hair shaved on the sides but maybe next time I should look at male proportions better, maybe the armour shape on his chest looks like he have breast lol, thanks for your input!

Hi Ryan I will look at the video in a sec. The picture shows a wizard resurrecting a demon I just wanted to suggest demon's  scary face coming out of the book. I've red your critique few times and wooow it is really insightful it will definitely help me with my next drawings. You even took your time to do a paintover :D thank you for that! I will keep coming back to your post to remind myself what to work on.

Any of you guys have a gallery so that I could check it out?
Thanks again! I should be back with some drawings soon

Hello guys. I am very eager to improve my artwork  so I decided that I will draw as much as I can in my free time.  Can I ask for your feedback and critique . If you can tell me what I could improve, what I did wrong, what should I add or get rid off etc :) I will be posting my artworks  here and hopefully improve overtime.

Thanks guys !

I've drew some concept with a pencil. Please tell me what you think and how I could improve, next time I want it to be better!... I know it's bad but it will take years to become good.

Thanks a lot!

Concept artist must be able to draw anything from characters, objects to environments. So if you have a story why don't you post a fragment which describes any of those above and I'll do my visual research on it and start sketching .
It may take couple days as I'm just getting my head around it plus work and training.

Something that will get my imagination going ;)

Hello there guys for the last couple of years I had a huge artist block trying to figure out if art is still my passion.(My other hobby is martial arts) I tried to make myself enjoy it, I got on the illustration course at the university and quit after 1 month thinking that it is not for me any more...

I kept on doing martial arts but I came to conclusion that this path could be over really fast if I ever got injured or if I am not good enough. So after researching and asking 'the universe' everyday for years 'what is my path???!!!' an idea to become a concept artist for films magically appeared! I decided that I am going to go back to university next year (the illustration course is very flexible I can join it with modules from animation or digital media)...

But anyway to the point... I started doing my research and now I would also like to start drawing before I go back to University. It would be nice if you guys help me out here. From what I understand concept artist for film read the script first and then design characters, environment etc.....

It would be nice if any writers on this forum could send me or post their stories and ideas here so that
I could start drawing from them.
Also if anyone knows anything about this field any advice and tips would be highly appreciated.
I will post my progress and drawings on here :)
Thank you

By cliché I mean that similar characters and stories already exist but I enjoy them. My favs are obviously Naruto,Dragon Ball, Hunter x Hunter and Bleach. They all have a lot of original traits to them too.

How can you tell that my stories and characters are not properly developed just by reading 5 pages? I think I would need to post at least few chapters to develop them. I also don't get why would I put more realism in my story it's a comic it can be fantasy.

By enjoyment I mean, The stories I tend to like happened to be similar to each other. There is always a  hero, he  becomes stronger over time, he fights some villains. The stories usually involve martial arts, adventure, comedy etc.... That structure is pretty cliché but I could always create some kind of twist and obviously the places and character won't be exactly the same as in other mangas but they will be pretty similar.

Anyway I will agree that I need to work on my art, story telling and originality. Hmmm any ideas how one can create original martial art story when almost everything have been done. Well I think it really comes to an artist being really creative and talented. Maybe I'm just too lazy ... Next time I create a comic I will try to come up with better ideas.

Hey guys don't worry about it I know my art and story are not too good.  The main characters that I usually create are cliché because I enjoy cliché shonen stories lol Yes I would never publish this. I just wanted to draw a martial art story that I would enjoy while working on my art, panels etc I am starting illustration course at university next week hopefully my art will improve. I don't plan to be a manga artist but if I ever make my own comic I would like it to have some Japanese influences. Posting on this forum is a good way to learn and improve :)
