i would recommend ( and i can't believe lambo-san hasn't reccomended it) and that is hitman-reborn!lol i did recommend it, its did on the other page :Þ It's definitely one of my top favorite manga/anime, i have 2 volumes of it just to learn the style of drawing. I think more people on this forum should get to know it, and there is barely a thread or post about it.

Anime is the same. I don't criticize anyone for watching shonen anime even though I can't stand it.
I don't think anyone can recommend an anime to anyone else... there are 'good' anime, and there are 'popular' anime... many times those two are completely different, but it depends mostly on experience. I've watched one episode of Naruto in my life and though it was silly. Same with FMA. I've been watching 5-6 hours of anime every day for almost 20 years... I've seen thousands. Those two just do nothing for me. Does that mean people shouldn't watch them? Absolutely not. Some people love those anime to death, and good for them. It's great to have an anime you love.
If I recommend Genshiken or Haruhi, unless you've seen enough anime (meaning dozens of series) you won't like them, and you'll probably think they're 'bad'. There's nothing wrong with that, but remember an opinion is useless unless it's an *informed* opinion. So, you keep watching anime, you grow, you learn, you have more and more to compare your favorites to, you become informed. It's basically like trying to teach Einstein's Relativity to someone who hasn't had basic physics classes yet... relativity is just stupid unless you have a background to understand it.
I do see a lot of people recommending anime who themselves have only seen a couple of series... it's so tempting to jump in and comment... but, the more you grow, the less important it is to 'teach'... you just have to let people find the truth for themselves.
Whatever anime you're watching and enjoying, great. Just always try to remember some have years and years more experience, some have less experience... so, unless you are exactly where the other person is, you really can't know what anime they would like, or consider good.

-Short story (16 episodes) and it's hard to follow since it uses the same technique as pulp fiction (placing everything trough each other). But it was one of the best shows I've ever seen, the characters were amazing and everyone was so interesting and likeable, even the enemy.
2. Afro samurai
-It might have ONLY 5 episodes, but those will be the 5 best episodes of your life. The contents might be for 16+ sometimes but it's really deep and a nice serie. The fact that he made an illusion of his own irritating companion, till the fact that that illusionary same companion saves his life by throwing himself in front of the enemy's sword, while it is actually his sword blocking it.
3. Full metal alchemist
-Longer than Baccano, I think about 80 episodes and it ends with a movie. It was a very good serie and for some reason it had logic behind it, even though it was fiction. It has a good storyline and I enjoyed every episode.
4. Bleach
-Even longer then full metal alchemist but at least it already ended. In the beginning it was hard for me to follow, but at the end it was worth it, though there are a couple of things that didn't seem right in the series. For example, SPOILER ALERT:

Ichigo could easily beat Aizen in the end, but why using his last getsuga Tenso then?
5. Naruto
-Great concept, great idea, great storylines and the decisions the writer makes from living or dying is excellent. Spoiler Alert - Jiraiya:

I even cried a bit with the dead of Jiraiya, perfectly made and my favorite character. But I wasn't angry when he died, I was happy since he died a dead fitting for the toad ninja
6. One piece
-Humor is more the basic of this series while epicness also had it's way there. It also has a few fillers tough, but less as naruto, also less flashbacks. I wasn't sure who to put on 4, one piece or naruto, but since I'm more fan of naruto I chose that.
7. Fairy tail
-Not so good, has it moments but no one die's in the series, not even people who were dead before the series started, since the little sister came back from another dimension. Also it's to childish, to much "For Friendship" attitude. I don't know why the series stopped in the middle of the tournament, that was also a sad moment.

Cowboy bebop? Even my dad loved that movie and he doesn't watch anime. I would have wanted to add Kenshin on the list, I watched that series when I was about 6 years old. But since it's so long ago I don't remember it anymore.
And for the people wondering why I chose Baccano and not Elfen Lied is because I didn't had time to watch Elfen Lied yet but I already know a few things about it.

Super hilarious
Golden time. I love this anime above all the rest in the world right now the drama is great and i got emotionaly attached to tada banri wich is the main character in the show. It is so freaking good i reccomend to the 100th power.
Beyond the boundary. Great anime with alot of potential its funny great action and great story line so far latest episode left me wanting to travel to japan and speed up the process of the anime production lol.

So there you have it my absolute recommended show to watch and follow at the moment is Zankyou no Terror.
This is followed really closely by Barakamon because it will just constantly keep you smiling.
Aldnoah I'm sorry but you just lost me with that last episode... never put a freakin power-rangers style mech transformation in you series people unless you want to completely ruin the serious and clever mood and story.

I watched that too! That one was good. I love when you find somethin just from coincidence and it turns out to be an awesome movie.

Ansatsu Kyou*censored*su - Assassination Classroom
This one is on episode 16 right now. I feel like it's more amusing to watch than anything else. It's interesting to say the least, which makes me want to watch more. Even if they get into the back story or not.
Basic Summary: Creature humanoid that can move at high speeds becomes teacher of a class for training assassins. If that sounds like your jam, definitely check it out.
Nisekoi - False Love
This is on it's second season right now, and it's still fun to watch. It's a typical harem type situation, but it doesn't bore me at all. The characters are interesting enough to keep me wanting more, and the back-story is good. Makes you really want to know what the truth is.
Basic Summary: Guy makes a childhood promise (typical right?), but doesn't remember who he made that promise to once he's older. Of course there's a lot more to it than that.
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru - My Youth Romantic Comedy is Wrong as I Expected
Another anime that's on it's second season, and this season, it is better than the last. The animation has noticeably improved greatly, even if it didn't need to. It's still amazing how much work they put into it this season. This is a slice of life, with a nice change of pace when it comes to how the main characters personality is. It's very straight forward, don't need to make friends type to live, type. It has it's funny moments and may relate to some viewers, in some aspects, as well.
Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka - Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?
This anime is set in a RPG type setting, and does it extremely well. It's not based on getting sucked into a game or anything like that, it's just how the world is, full of adventurers and monsters. While the plot seems typical at first glance, the story of the main characters play it's role very well. I find this a very interesting and entertaining anime, for people who like something set in a fantasy world, that doesn't go over the top. Highly recommended to that one out for something new.
Shokugeki no Souma - Food Wars
As the title suggests, it's a anime about food, that actually even made me hungry watching it. This isn't your typical cutesy anime that just shows you new ingredients though. The plot of it all, is awesome, it'll definitely make most people laugh, and the animation for peoples reaction to food, will be interesting for new viewers. If you're wanting to learn a thing or two, or want to watch something funny, this is it.
Owari no Seraph - Seraph of the End
This is a vampire anime, and I thought I wasn't going to be into it. But surprise surprise, I got sucked in on the first episode. While there's still a lot to be questioned, I'd think most viewers will feel for the main character immediately. The vampires are bad in this one, this isn't a love story. This about human slavery and trying to survive in a post apocalyptic type world. If you like serious plots, this is a good one. Keep in mind, this is an anime where monsters are real.
Grisaia
This is one of those animes, where it's impossible to hate the main character. He does everything you wouldn't expect him to and more, which keeps you watching more as you learn about each characters back story. It is in it's second season right now, but if you haven't watched it, definitely check that out.
Basic Summary: Military trained all his life, the main character decides to go to school for the first time to experience what youth is like.
Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo - Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches
This one is a good comedy to watch. One of those, delinquent gets his world changed by a certain event-type situation. While it is about magic pretty much, it's doesn't go over the top, and how the characters deal with the new development is interesting and mostly realistic. Every character has an interesting personality and this anime doesn't leave you bored.
Plastic Memories
This is pretty much about what life is like with realistic androids. I've always kinda like this kind of genre, because it's interesting to see the perspective from the writers view. This is not about how androids became established, but how each one eventually ends there lifespan. Like most things in the world. It does have it's tear-jerking moments, so don't forget your tissues.
Nagato Yuki-chan no Shou*censored*su - The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan
As much as I hate to recommend this, but if you liked The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya movie, where Nagato was....different. This series is the spinoff of that. I really hate that I kind of like this one, and every episode, I secretly hope that all of the sudden it ties in with the ending of that movie. Besides that, I'd recommend for people who have watched the original series. For the people that haven't, that's up in the air. Check it out regardless, the characters personalities are the same in both, and that's part of the reason people liked the original anyways.
Ore Monogatari - My Story
If you were put off by a preview of this, go back and give this one a chance. The main character is loveable despite his looks, and makes this love story so good!! You won't be disappointed, and you'll get some laughs outta this one.
That's bout it for the anime that have really caught my eye this season. There are more out there that I do watch and follow, but the ones listed here, are ones that I personally find very enjoyable and leave me eagerly waiting for the next episode.

It had a few bad early episodes that turned people off, but it turned into one of the better anime of recent seasons by the end. Its a hodgepodge of slice of life, romance, sci-fi, business dealings, political intrigue, engineering, and the occasional action. As weird as that combo may sound, it works surprisingly well.
