Title: fanfiction.net Copy and Paste Issue
Post by: lexamangaforum on March 17, 2017, 12:29:35 PM
SO... I haven't got copies of my own fanfiction as I've changed laptops a few times since writing one!

How do I get my own fanfics back?!

Any suggestions?

Well you can retype them the long way, but I'm not sure how to circumvent FF.net.

This is why it's always good to use a cloud.

Tried something that worked for me on a rando story. Just hit CTRL+A to highlight everything on the page, and then CTRL + C to copy it all.

From there, I was able to paste everything into a notepad document. After that you can do some quick editing to get rid of all the excess stuff from the basic text.

Good luck!

I think I know what you're talking about. If the fanfictions are old, this might not work, but there used to be a way, I think within the first one hundred eighty days of posting, where you could edit the document that went into ff.net and you could copy and paste from there.

Problem is these days, probably due to copyright issues, ff.net no longer even allows highlighting of works on their main viewing page. I'm not sure you can do it even in their preview form from your account settings. It's rough. Usually to combat that, i have a flashdrive where I keep all my chapters as well as a copy of them all on my desktop.

It probably sucks if none of those methods apply to your current situation, but...lesson learned, I guess? :noidea:

You can select the text (and copy) normally once you disable javascript on your browser :)
