Hello everybody. I am ThatGuy80!
I haven't been on this site for long, but i decided to throw my hat into this ring. Let me explain who I am and what I am capable of.
I am an aspiring writer, as many of us are. I've been writing stories for a long time, but only started to take it seriously a few years ago. Nonetheless, I am serious about this. I have already talked to a couple people about collaborating, but I am usually open to more. Now, I have my good and my bad points, but I'm already making progress. I'm currently submitting stories to magazines and trying to enter various competitions. That being said, let me tell you some of my good and bad points and what I have done, as well as what I can do.
- I mainly write science fiction and fantasy, but I'm open to almost any genre or medium. (Manga, comics, novels, light novels, short stories, etc...) I really expect to be asked about manga, but I'm letting you know that I will listen to any request.
- I worked in many creative fields, some of in a professional capacity. That has warped my mind and taught me a lot about creating things and collaboration in general. I've been an actor, working in film and Halloween attractions. I've done storyboard art and really many things in and out of my area of expertise.
- Even if you're not looking to work with me, I can offer opinions and advice. Another perspective is usually helpful and I will do my best to offer that.
- I have a tendency to be too serious about certain aspects of creating. After working in film, music, etc... I've often found myself needing to sign contracts and experienced both bad and good outcomes from these collaborations, or previous employment. I apologize if I seem too serious about certain things, but I want any project I'm involved in to be as good as it can be. I also don't want a falling out between me and someone I'm working with, over legal, or issues of any kind.
- I draw, but I'm not looking to do it too much. Still, if need be, I can do things like character design, or give advice and constructive criticism on art. ALL criticism I give is intended to be constructive, but I'm sorry if I come off too harsh at any given time.
- I am busy a lot. I have to deal with personal problems, like we all do, but will do my best to be as involved in any project I sign on to as possible.
- I know many of us like our anonymity, but at some point we may need to know who we're working with more intimately. This is where I previously mentioned legal issues. If a project that I work on is looking like it will be published, we will need to know each others' contact info. and be able to reach each other in case of something involving the project. Contracts, etc... I will keep anyone's information secret and would expect the same courtesy.
I know this is a lot and I'm sure I forgot a couple things, but I think I conveyed the main points. I'm happy to discuss working on any project, but I want you to know what you're getting into. Even if getting the work published isn't the main goal, I want to be as serious about it as possible. That doesn't mean it can't be fun, but a lot is involved in creating anything and I want to do it well and get to that professional level. I want the project to look as good as possible, as well as it's creators. If all this scares you, I understand and apologize for that, but I don't want to give you any illusions of who you would be working with. I'm not trying to overwhelm you and I don't want you to think that I'm an insensitive jerk, but there are many things that concern me when creating anything. All of that being said, if you're interested in working with me, or just want advice and critique, feel free to let me know. Thank you for listening and you know how to reach me.
