A Suggestion, a very suggestive Suggestion #_#
« on: September 25, 2013, 11:13:23 AM »
Lately I've seen a few members wondering and I've been also wondering, a lot, about the security of our stories being here on the internet. This leads a lot of us to keep our best ideas to ourselves, but that leads to the issue of not being able to get feedback and critique. I have an idea  how to fix this, kinda :/

THE MANGARAIDERS SECRECY CIRCLE OF HELP AND STUFF ! !

A group of trusted and experienced members that help review the 'big' story ideas of writers ^^
For example: A writer 'ere wants to have his 'masterpiece' reviewed in order to make it even more better, buuuut he doesn't wanna risk his ideas being swiped. So he approaches The MSCH&S. They say "Sure! send it to these respective members through the Personal Messaging system. Once all of us have read it we will proceed to discuss our opinions with you over a skype chat." Wa'lah!

Whatch'all think? ^-^

Also, we could have this for storyboard/name/rough draft reviews, since if you're like me (and most general mangaka in Japan) and you do a storyboard/name/rough draft rather than a written work, you can get that reviewed without prying eyes of who-knows-what lives out there on the internet @_@

If there are those who are that worried, I can lend a hand in reviewing.

I think you're one of the most trustworthy members here, and I'm sure many of are as well, but the thing is new members would have to get around a lot here in order to find out for themselves. Maybe giving them a place to look would help. Not exactly a secret circle like I said before but a sticky topic for personal reviews would help them. We could work up a list of volunteers and discuss who should be listed in the topic. I would gladly like to help out in the storyboard section but it's up to members to decide whether I can be trusted :ninja:

I think 'Personal Reviews for Scripts and Rough Drafts' and in it would be a list of trustworthy volunteers under the respective posts(Script revision/ Rough Draft revision or both)
Lol, that could turn into a cyber-editorial department if you think of it xD

Whatcha' think? :3

I don't generally have the drive to do in-depth reviews anymore unless i truly want to, but yeah sure so long as i have the time and interest i'd be willing to share my views

Well if we can get enough reviewers together and get things official enough I do have the power to create sticky topics. Though it does kinda go against encouraging people to post their stories, so it would have to be explicit that we are part of a "bumper zone" for those who do want help, but aren't yet trusting enough of the internet to post their stories in public.

Hmm, well it would be a problem if members move away from posting stories publicly :hmm: I think we should have it that members that want to have their work personally reviewed must show some promise by presenting work that has already been posted on the forum. If they want a personal review they must convince us that their work deserves it, not just any other everyday story they've written. And maybe also forget the part of a group review, since too many opinions wouldn't go well together.

So basically it'll go something like this:
We have the topic and list of 'reviewers'
If a member wants a personal review they must give links of two or three stories that they have already written. They must also motivate the story they want reviewed and show a fair amount of confidence.
If a reviewer shows interest he can offer his services as a personal reviewer. If there are two or more interested reviewers then the targeted individual may decide on who to work with.
The reviewer and the individual must discuss times in which they can have meetings and so on.

How do those regulations sound? :/

Totally like an editorial department lol xD

K, I'll edit the first post and put a list of how much of us have volunteered so far.

How many volunteers do you think we need? I'd say 5 for script-readers and 2 for rough draft-analysers :/

Hmmm. I guess I've always thought that MR was a place where writers who already had ideas came to share and maybe beg for an artist. I really do think that you'd be safe from the "them" who might be looking for an idea. Even if they do take something out of your story for inspiration, you could just point at the time stamp on the post that they ripped off of and they're caught red-handed.

Just something to consider, I guess.

I think that's a great idea since I can't see myself posting anything from my fiction novel publicly. I would enjoy being a part of the script reviewers, but time is not on my side these days, so I can't.

Well, I couldn't review every single one if they came in at constant onslaught, but I might be able to do one review a week.

These are the things we tell people, but not everybody is so assured. I suppose that's where the merit comes from. Of course it's 99.9% safe, but not everyone will agree, and those who don't shouldn't be denied help.

I'll definitely help. I've been trying to do more reviewing on the site itself but if certain stories are simply sent to me it's much easier.
Bros with Legomaestro since 2010. I think.
