Which Anime/Manga do your characters look like?
« on: December 10, 2015, 01:18:03 PM »

Scour the interwebs and find anime/manga drawings or characters you feel look like your character

Make as many comparisions as you find because more likely than not the descriptions don't always quite match. But go for it otherwise!

When we write we imagine our stories becoming epic anime (probably done by A-1 Pictures or Madhouse or something) or at the very least as interesting manga characters. Sure, you can imagine them as live action people or actors, but  in the end we're thinking anime and manga because things just look great like that.

We all have a bunch of characters in our head by default, so try to choose them from whatever projects you are actually working on.  Who knows? Could be useful in the long run incase people want to know what your character looks like

I'll start!

Rex Takaroma

In terms of frame, I always think of him as lanky and athletic more than anything. Mugen gets the closest to him on that front. And he has a distinctive red vest

None anymore. I used to base off anime characters but now I only base from real people.

Most commonly musicians.

But in the past I've based characters off...

I don't like Yui but before I watched K-On I got a volume of the manga at the library and I was looking at it when I designed one of my characters. So I lifted hairstyles from all the K-On girls there.

THIS IS A DRAWING FROM 2014!! I don't draw quite this bad anymore.

But this is how I lifted some elements of Yuiko from the original design of my character Lia. I stole her attitude and kinda her hair. Seeing them back to back like this is shameful. But not nearly as shameful as those bug eyes. Ah!
Spoiler

But Lia looks completely different now. I want to puke looking at that drawing. Go to my art thread (link in my sig) and look at the first picture if you want to see her (still continuing) evolution. SELF PROMOTION!

Bahahahahaha! That could be an idea for a thread too though. You do the honours?

Maybe. I'll put my post back there than. I just edited it out for now. Maybe I'll make a thread for that.

Ooh, fun thread! I'll use the main characters from The Color of Humanity.

Axel:

I'd say he's sort of a mix of Konoha from Kagerou Project and Genos from One Punch Man.

Isacc:

Not an anime character, but I draw design inspiration from Alfendi Layton from Layton Brothers Mystery Room:

As well as Worick from Gangsta (just much less muscular...):
