Really you classify yourself as a "creepy scumbag" in anime there is always a lot of cleavage or boob-age so don't sweat it

Whoops. Well, here's a page from the practice sketchbook that I'm not particularly ashamed of. Some things came out better than others. Can you identify which? Enjoy it, y'all.

You actually had something on that old man. The faces on the left sides and the bottom right corner are my favourite actually. Construction is your friend.

Nice to see you updating the thread. Looking forward to more of your stuff man.

Oh, man. I love looking at the sketch dumps of other artists. I'm still way far away from where I'd like to be in terms of skill, and I don't want to get into the habit of developing bad shortcuts, but...

Have you ever figured out how an artist does something you like, and was able to replicate it close enough that you can repeat it consistently? I may have finally gotten a handle on an appropriately cartoony facial structure that's also flexible enough for a lot of diversity and flexibility. Hair still eludes me, but I feel like a breakthrough has been made. Super pumped for the future of my arts.

EDIT/UPDATE: Let's up the ante, yeah? Somebody suggest some characters to draw. I wanna take a crack at 'em.

Yeah, I know that feeling, in fact I wanted to go down that road because I just want to get my story out rather than draw great pictures (Seeing Miwa Shirow's art always does that to me) but after watching a video by Feng Zhu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rI6q6bv7do I've started considering going the fundamentals route, because while the ground level training is annoying and stressful the later benefits are so worth it.

Not aiming for the stars or anything, but my life would be simpler if I don't get choked up by the next challenge in perspective or anatomy because I was only practicing one body type.

BUT

When in doubt, I will always take the simpler route. No matter how much of a bad habit it is or anything. To me losing motivation and hating yourself is not worth the time. I'll copy the heck out of something and use hacks to get that art through.

I'll give you some slightly varied choices.

Sousuke Sagara, Chaika The Coffin Princess, Tamako Kitashirakawa, Sendo Takeshi and of course...Umi Sonoda Wonderful Rush outfit.

That's a good spread. Everyone else go home; Manimal has good and varied taste.

@Lego: I promise I'm not giving up the fundamentals! I've just never quite been able to figure out how the general anime face has worked before now. For whatever reason, I think it just clicked. Big shoutouts to artists that show their work.

TRAITOR. I don't have a favourite Nekomimi. Actually maybe Black Hanekawa. Maybe you can add her to the list of options to if you want to get spicy.

Hanekawa gets a maybe. Sorry Lego, as someone who is allergic to cats, I am not a fan of the catgirls. Besides, ears are one of the things I still need to improve on.

Will report in later with a progress update.

Any character from Tatami Galaxy (particularly Akashi, Ozu, or Watashi), Lain Iwakura from Serial Experiments Lain, Senjougahara from Bakemonogatari.

I am at home, therefore, I have met your qualifications.

Okay, maybe a few, but the window of opportunity has for real closed now.

Getting back into the swing of things. Hoping that my numerous, numerous other tabs of other artists' sketches have given me some kind of knowledge or skill through osmosis. Much more likely: They're taking my time as I keep looking at other folks' work. Oh well.

Expect a new sketch page within the next week or MY NAME ISN'T PEYTON MANNING.
