Last one is my favourite. You have such a knack for making characters pop with pencil. Illustrative stuff. Raven is also a good one

@Coryn Thanks!

@Lego Thanks~ I was pretty happy with that one c:

Took a break from doing homework to draw(exam upcoming this weekend aaaaah!).
Yes, I loves mah shadows. My hand suffered a good amount of lead smudging but it was fun.

No one is perfect . . . that's why there's erasers and extra paper.

the coloured pencils look great , as does the monochrome shading/colouring. they've really picked up the texture of the paper which adds flavour.
I like the last one in that set, having character interact with the background or scenery really makes them feel real, and the scenery is drawn great too.

also nice mysterious shadowy one. I haven't drawn in pencil for a while but smudging was one of those things I absolutely hated XD

make sure to revise for your exam too! I hope it goes well, are you confident for it?

@Viking Thanks! c:

Thanks suuper c: Those ones and this recent one were drawn in my sketchbook, which certainly has a lot more texture to it then if I had used normal printing paper.

I'm semi-confident! :ohmy: The exam is going to be three hours, but it takes me more than three hours to do the practice exam papers TwT At least I know how to do the work.

haha yeah most of my exams were either way too easy and I finished in less than half the time, or way too hard and I ran out of time XD

Sheesh, good luck! If it's any consolation, I've found more often than not that the practice exam is longer than the actual one. At least they tend to be when the professor is trying to round you out.

Thank you! And I certainly hope so. My professor has been so nice, checking my work and giving me feedback on the spot. Her last words for me... "Stop panicking. Just do it."

Good advice, honestly, a similar mantra got me through college: "Do it now and you won't stress about it later." Getting things done is always easier on the soul than worrying about them.

I did it! Managed to mostly fill in the sheets. Whether I got them mostly right is another question ^^;
The exam was partially easy and partially hard. If you're wondering, the subject was Advanced Harmony and Counterpoint.

Another sketch book drawing.
One area I do seem to mess up on is the part where the shoulder connects to the body - if it goes in front or has to look more behind (although it would've helped if I used more guidelines for this one).

Advanced Harmony and Counterpoint
awesome, I had to google what it was but now it's over I bet you can focus on other stuff better!

lovely sketch :)
yeah I totally get you on the shoulders thing, it's something I'm trying to get my head around how I draw my guidelines at the moment. guidelines totally help but you've gotta know how to draw them in the first place T_T

@Suuper Yep!

True dat.
And then the other thing is without guidelines proportions naturally get thrown off...

Scarfy thing. Need to figure how to do scarfy thing without looking bulky.

cool magical energy
yeah you always draw your fabrics with quite a bit of bulk to them, for a scarf thingy it's normally quite a thin fabric I'm thinking. As always, google photo references!
A trick I have seen in manga for drawing objects behind fabric, is to actually draw the hidden features, and then erase parts of them (at least that's what it looks like). But it can make the fabric look transparent if you do it wrongly, and I don't really know what makes that difference :P

and yes proportions do heavily rely on guidelines, yet another reason to make sure the guidelines are good before adding details :P

@suuper Thanks!
Transparent fabric XD Would defeat the purpose of having the fabric. I'll try that out c:

This is a collab drawing I did with BobbyJoeX.
We are working on a crossover story involving both our stories, Bobby's Royal and my Charred Life, where our characters partner up to do missions together - or so they're told. It's not long before things start going down the drain...

We're currently posting it on Tapas if you want to read it: https://tapas.io/series/Negative-Impact

Bobby did the sketch and shading. I did the lineart and base colours.

I saw it pop up on the Discord, but that's a very nice colab piece you two did! Charred life is also up there on my to review list!

Suuper is definitely on the ball when he mentioned photo references. There are definitely some movies with people wearing similar items that have come out recently (Alita and Mortal Engines come to mind). It seems that they can be either tight or bulky depending on the material.
