I like the idea of making my own brushes at some point. It's pretty easy all you do is make a greyscale image and save it as whatever the brush file format for your software is. GIMP is gpb I think? whatever. you can also do quick experiments with the "clipboard brush" which you just have to copy a selection and that becomes your brush. very cool.
I find very empty brushes (mostly white space) work well, say just a few random lines/shapes drawn, and then have the brush randomly rotate as you move it and you get all sorts of webbing and netting, bubbles and lace etc.

^ This is a drawing from 2017 that I originally sketched for Inktober but didn't ending up inking because... I got intimidated and was afraid of messing it up lol.

As an extra it was meant to be three in a series of drawings. Sorta evolutions? Imagine the final form of the two below. Finally finished it this year! Pencil, not ink. Though animals aren't my strongest suit, I'm happy with how it turned out.

Dragon is acelike. The fur mixes so nicely. Great design

As I mentioned in my other art topic I've been doing a little painting as well. I'm a complete noob at it and most of it is me just doing it for fun. It's oddly relaxing and much faster doing background stuff than if I'd done it with pencil.

These were done on puny canvasses, which I discovered aren't the most ideal if you want to add in many small details ^^;

This first one was an attempt at a sunset sky... but then I added my own thing to it. One thing I learned out of this one was... If the sky already looks perfect the first time - don't touch it!!! Huff huff...  The learning process has been fun.

Wanted to do something opposite for the second one. I basically copied this video for the composition:

My struggle with this one was actually the colour of the dress I wanted something that stood out, so I initially chose a bright red. It was too bright lol. It eventually turned into a purple dress ^^

Thank you Hati! ^^ It's definitely something I'd like to work on more. I'm used to drawing in black and white so I'm glad to hear that!

It can be very tempting to try and fix very small mistakes or add things when the piece doesn't need it, so it can indeed be hard to tell when to stop haha.

Great paintings. The lighting is fantastic in the first one.
