I can dig it. I'm surprised I didn't see this before, and I recognize some of the exercises up there with perspective and whatnot. I too like working in ballpoint pens.

@mahlua its a pretty old topic that I kinda forgot about really. most of us just post everything in the one manga art topic, but I wanted to separate it out in view of the volume that I'm producing.

ballpoint pens are great, even cheap ones can get great effects and I almost prefer them as you can sketch much lighter than an expensive one in which the ink always flows well. I don't do it as much as before thanks to digital, but I still think I prefer it when it goes well.

Ballpoint pens and mechanical pencils are honestly some of my favorite tools to use, especially since when "back to school" sales start happening you can buy them in super-bulk.

I only EVER buy the cheap ones that are like 60p for 10. each one'll do about 50 pages of sketches, so £2.50 for a ream of 500 pages and I'm good to go for the whole year :P

everything looks good when you have lots of symmetry. most of these are random scribbles lol. I totally recommend having some fun with it. it would be great for making lacy kinda things maybe. or flowers definitely.

God you practice/doodle quite abit don't you! If it wasn't for the fact that I was going on hiatus to drill study I'd feel ashamed! Same words as on the other thread really keep this up pal. Only way is up for you

I find it quite hard to "doodle", as I want to make structured logical pieces like people or buildings, so this is a good compromise. All the best for your hiatus drawing bonanza.

Those mandalas are pretty trippy, and great. I guess I now have a use for the stockpile of rulers and triangles I have.

It would be great if GIMP had symmetry drawing modes built in but they are only available in the beta version (or some sort of version) and I don't feeling like risking my art for a fancy feature that may or may not crash my PC :P
