wow that's seriously good. so much detail and stuff.
I love all the light flecks and the lighting and shading is pretty awesome, especially on the hood and cape.
I personally wouldn't say the lighting is "vibrant", as I would expect more of a coloured light source, like yellow or something, whereas your piece seems a little low on contrast I think (maybe it's just my own definition of vibrant). I think maybe because all the colours are quite similar perhaps? Definitely a bright light, and the shading matches the light source well.
lovely background and the little glow around the characters too.

but really great overall, this must have taken ages to draw!!

Great stuff! There's just something about that whole color scheme that reminds me of Christmas lights hung up in my room as a child. It's got that nice soft glow you get when the only thing on is the string of Christmas lights around your ceiling (too ultra specific maybe?)

This also reminds me that I really have no idea what's happening in the world of Madoka these days. How did one 12 episode show become such a long epic when I wasn't looking?

Will review stories upon request. My latest arc: http://goo.gl/KYgsfF

Thanks everyone :)
suuper-san - Yeah, it took quite a long time :P. Colored works are always very time consuming - especially the detailed ones ;(.
Coryn - Interesting thoughts about Christmas lights - didn't really think about it. Right now Madoka is much more than just 12 episodes - especially that Magia Record with Iroha is now ongoing. Always loved this uniqueness of Puella Magi - altering the whole mahou shoujo genre and showing it in a much more serious and dark theme.

Don't forget about the power of black ink - one of the most important basics in manga drawings :).

had no idea that Madoka had expanded into more stuff. I remember a film came out, or 2 films or something. I never saw them though haha. It was a pretty interesting story, plus the art shifts in it were huge.

Love the flower in the hat, the hair detail and the fire effect in that last one. and yes the black really makes it pop.

Time for my first fanart this year :)
Iroha and Madoka from Puella Magi Madoka Magica/Magia Record series.
Doing the lightning was a tough task :P Wanted to make it vibrant but also keep a good contrast ballance.
Hope you like it :)

Happy new year, Daisetsu!

The 2020 fanart, very nice lighting - it's almost too pretty/cute to point out any value issues, the girl on the left is especially cute and I'm not one for chibi style!

One thing I really like about this latest piece here is that you remembered contrast. I think you realised due to lack of ambient light the interaction between the two characters with the hands could have been vague, it still could have been pulled off - but sometimes the artist must make a decision between reality and visibility - especially when it's the focal point. Nicely done and I'll be watching for more work! Wishing you a strong 2020

Truly a priceless reaction Lego! Love it! :)
Thanks a lot :)

Old OCs. It's good to still remember and draw them once in a while :).

Wow these look straight out of a Visual Novel, the kind that leaves you teary eyed at the end. Amazing perspective and I just love how anime they look. You've really nailed the style Daisetsu. Great colouring and work on the clothing too!

What are their names and what stories do they come from?

They look really good! The colours are really well chosen. Love all the effects and lighting. I'm guessing your using a symmetry tool to get all those loopy things and snowflakes? Very cool.
And yes we must know more about them!

Many thanks Lego! :)

Their names are Sakura and Yukiko [from left to right] and both comes from one of my older stories. They're sisters living in a Japanese style fantasy world with lots of elemental magic. They got separated a long time ago and both live their own lives without knowing where the other is. I guess I should refine their plot in the future and make it a separate kind of story :).

Yes :). In Clip Studio Paint there's a lot of helpful tools and resources like snowflakes and complicated patterns which makes the drawing stand out.
And I guess I really should clean up some old ideas :)

That looks beautiful Daisetsu! You really nailed that look of wonder at magic in her face. Like her arm band things, and that's not even talking about the cool  hair haha
