DESERT RHYTHM
Aero looked across the seemingly endless desert. He stood atop one of the thousands of skinny rock plateaus that jutted up from the Earth’s surface. Suddenly two more figures appeared on adjacent plateaus. They were both dressed the same as him, heavily wrapped in dusty desert robes. The one on his left stood straight and tall, with tufts of an afro protruding from his head wrappings, so while he couldn’t see his face, Aero could tell Lego was using his human form today. On his right stood the other newcomer, his robes were slightly askew and the slight smell of alcohol was wafting off of him, which also served to explain his lax posture. Rob’s head was uncovered however, and it glistened in the morning sun. Finally the fourth member of their part arrived as well, however she was lacking any kind of protection against the elements.
“Gaaah!!! Now I see why you guys built a city. This desert sucks!”
Aero glanced back at her, the wind whipping around his head wrappings.
“That doesn’t make any sense. The desert only showed up after the Sentai incident. Besides, you’ve been
here the ENTIRE TIME.”
“That was a joke Aero. Lighten up a bit. Maybe you’d feel better if you weren’t wearing so many clothes in the
desert.”
Aero’s eye twitched. Since her last change MR-Tan had adopted what looked more like a one piece swim suit
and clothing, which along with the strange shaped armor made her look more like a Buck Rogers character
than anything else. Surprisingly though she seemed completely unaffected by the sun’s rays. So while the
regular members had covered themselves to keep from getting sun stroke, she suffered little more than a
slight tan.
“Yo, kid.”
Turning around, Aero set his eyes on Rob.
“Yeah?”
“You think there’s any way to get a drink out here.”
Aero’s palm became close friends with his face.
“How you got named team leader I’ll never know.”
“Seniority has privileges.”
“You keep disappearing for weeks on end recently. Doesn’t that knock your credibility down or something?”
Lego finally interjected himself into the conversation.
“Once a Raider, always a Raider.”
Grinning, Rob start wavering towards Aero.
“Yup, yup. Can’t blame me for not-”
Rob had found the edge of the plateau. Watching as he toppled towards the ground, the onlookers expected little more than for him to crash into the desert sands below, which was all he did, at first. Upon hitting the ground Rob first appeared fine, but a moment later the earth gave way, revealing a massive black pit. As Rob disappeared the hole started to open wider and wider, and soon Tan and the Raiders found themselves desperately trying to escape the ever widening breach. Having to jump across the plateaus was slowing them down however, and trying to run between them would have been even slower. For all their effort it was ultimately proved futile, with all three falling into the fissure.
