Update!

Comixpress has FINALLY treated our files.

We got a nasty surprise about the inside back cover which featured informations about our previous anthologies and the url to buy them. Comixpress refused to print the page because, I quote, it "contains an ad for one of our imitators", meaning a url to buy the first anthologies at Indyplanet. Of course, no problem about featuring a  url to their own sites...

We were surprised because professionnal editors/printers usually accept to feature ads about the author's books, whoever they are printed by.

We changed the url by the forum's one and to show  our appreciation of such politics, deleted the ad concerning our anthology printed by comixpress.

This will be the last anthology printed using Comixpress for several reasons:

1. The total absence of answer to mails. You have to use facebook to remind  them to check their mails.
2. The delays: 6 months for the first book, 2 or 3 to get this one printed...and several more to have it on the online shop.
3. The refusal to print our book because it mentions that not all our books were printed by them.

We need to find a more reliable and serious printer since Ka-blam (pages wrongly cut and badly printed) and Comixpress didn't give good results.

That's just terrible! And the worst part is just like Aero said, they're like the biggest brands on the industry...

I know that when the day comes when I'm finally able to open an e-shop, I know I'll be printing those darn books myself! xD Or at least at  a local printer, because seriously? Like a year to get it done? That's ridiculous!

Update: They have accepted the modified page I have sent.  But they have lost one advertising (I took off the ad concerning the book we printed with them ) and they lost one client  :cop:.

So far, we always had problems with our printers, either they printed badly our books (which is unacceptable!) either they took ages to print them.

We  still haven't found a reliable printer so we will have to find other ways for the next anthologies. Maybe I will print the anthologies with a local printer and organise orders.

Maybe this solution will stop the stress ulcer I happen to have every time we print an anthology.

Well Cory if you want to work with a local printer it will be a lot faster and the quality is assured as well, I have worked with printers for college projects before and as long as all the the files are good to go there shouldn't be any problem.

The only downside is that you would require a website and a paying system to sell the anthologies, Paypal is a easy way to do it, if not there's always E-bay or even better, Amazon.

I have received the pdf proof. Everything seems ok BUT the summary page which is cut wrongly although I have followed the printer's template. It is not a problem since the summary in itself is safe, but the background picture although still acceptable is a little bit cut away.

I'm more than happy to have put by prudence the drawings and text of each comics page only in the safe center area : all of them are correct, which wouldn't have been the case if it had been put in the borders.  It sure is an improvement compared to Ka-blam and its endless printing/pages cutting problems.

Conclusion: I have approved the pdf proof and I'm waiting for the printing.

If Comixpress takes too long to add the book to their online shop, we will organise a order session using my creator account.

I received the invoice for the payment of the anthology books I have ordered.

My eyes nearly bugged out of my head:
two anthologies: around 6 usd, shipping: 19 USD!!!!!!

I had asked a paypal invoice and received a bank card invoice. Had to mail them again to have the good invoice.

It's time for us to change of methods guys!

Hasith and me will work on finding another shipping solution.

I checked the shipping costs we would have if I shipped from here (France) the books to our USA members.
I checked the costs for a book of 50g, 100g or 1kg , with basic options (postexport) and track services.
You will notice that the shipping of my two books bought from comixpress cost more than 1 kg of books shipped from here. Yes, that's that dramatic.

For a book of 50g.
Basic: 1.90 EUROS (around 2.5 usd)
with a tracking option: 4.70 euros (around 6.3 usd)

For a book of 100g
basic (postexport) : 3.30 euros (around 4.5 usd)
with tracking option: 6.1 euros (around 8.2 usd)

for 1 kg of books
basic : 14 euros (around 19 usd)
with tracking option: 17 euros (23 usd)
