How hard would you say it is to learn Google Sketchup Suuper? Those stuff look real good! I look at the webtoons out there and see a possibility to make some 3d backgrounds for a comic in the future. I'm just not sure how practical and easy it is to learn to make stuff haha.

i know i sound like a broken record, but really practice is all it takes.
CAD (computer aided design) is one of the few areas that i would say i actually have a talent for using the programs well. but to be honest, it is very easy to use sketchup. what is hard is to work quickly and efficiently. you can learn the basics in an hour, and you know all the skills that i have ever used so far. but knowing the order of using those skills is much harder.

i will do a tutorial if i can find the time, summer holiday is fast approaching. trouble is when i get a really good day with lots of time, i just do lots of drawing and never get around to making tutorials :P
i will seriously do something though at some point, because there are some techniques i use that i have never seen in a tutorial, at least not deliberately.

on a scale of 1-10 difficulty:
3/10 to learn the tools
5/10 to learn speed techniques and actually use them
6/10 bonus stuff thats kinda one off and only good for showing off

Hahaha I still keep on hoping for some sort of magic pill or something o nthat front.

CAD sounds too brutal to even consider dwnloading haha. Ah I see what you mean about Sketchup.

Well no rush dude. Just interested i nknowing a few tips here and there. A video would be great for the MR Youtube channel though if you ever get around to it.

Easy to learn then. Relatively. I hope to have time during the summer holidays too...

CAD is a generic term used to refer to any program, i use it a lot at school so it sounds like a program itself out of context. sorry lol

ahhh yes the MR youtube which i completely forgot about. yes i will consider it, thanks for reminding me.

there has to be a magic pill somewhere :P
trouble is, i think you only discover it once you already have the skill, its more of a retrospective pill :P

Yeah I'm pretty aware its for academic things so yeah, that's why I fear it so much. Definitely not freeware huh?

Haha the retrospective pill.

What are you working on actually? Studying or do you have a manga planned? You made quite a good one back then dude

sorry, i probably wasnt clear again, CAD is EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING is CAD. Sketchup is CAD, Blender is CAD etc.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer-aided_design
therefore, it has no price because it is not a thing :P

i am currently working on:
-male faces
-male body
-backgrounds (traditional and Sketchup)
which will take approx 1-2 months or until school breaks (because i never draw male it will take a lot of time)

then i am working on
-shading (hair/faces/body/clothes/everything)
-and also screentoning (digitally) shading for manga style render only (my last manga had no shading i will NOT repeat that)
which will take a month or so or less (considering i will be off school)

then i am working on
-expressions
-effects
-camera angles
-testing using Sketchup in manga panels (making the Sketchup look more hand drawn etc and shading etc)
for about a week or two (basically miscellaneous stuff but relevant to a manga)

then i am finally working on
-one shot manga
OR
-actual manga with a potential of 10-20 chapters
whichever seems more doable or i like the story more.

so in theory, in three months or less i should be churning out my first chapter. needless to say it wont happen as i plan, but i like to plan to do more so i overachieve rather than underplan and underachieve.
i have worked out a schedule that means i can turn out a whole chapter (30 pages) every three weeks, but that uses all my drawing time, so no extra sketching at all.

in holiday time i can churn out 30 pages in a full week, but it will kill me :P

and i actually need a story......................
You made quite a good one back then dude
thanks. worst case scenario, i will reuse that story, but i only have about 5 chapters in my head so far and then it just.............stops. writers block i guess. i mean i can just do the 5 chapters, that will be an achievement in itself.

wow i wrote a lot, time to sleep i think :P

oh heres a spaceship, got bored so i probably wont finish it

Spoiler

Yikes my bad. And yeah, that sounds like quite the healthy list. I need to actually write mine out too and see what I'm aiming at.

Anyways peace

Whoa that's a major study load! I roughly do the same, I feel. Like I plan out all the study material and plan out the steps though they don't follow through as solid as my plans do lol.
I'm totally digging your sketchup work so far! I also have the program and I'm no where NEAR as far as you are with it.
Those details man.. @ w@

I'm currently working on toning and story boarding as well as different shading styles.

Whenever and whatever you produce, I look forward to seeing it!

@lego actually writing it out as i did sort of makes it more real, and i think that way you can keep your focus and manage what you are achieving.

@killerB thanks, i hope i can get as much done as i want!

@Razikitsune yeah i have recently been doing more and more, and with the school holidays approaching i hope to have a lot of 8 hour drawing days. i should be able to get a lot done as long as i dont get tired :P
thanks and keep up your toning and shading. Sketchup is really easy to use, you will get better in no time :P

latest 3D: a friend of mine said he was making a city in Sketchup, so i tried my hand at a really quick pseudo-good city.
turned out quite well and i think i know what i would improve for the next one.
bear in mind, this is basically using cheating methods so doesnt really count as actual hard work or skill lol

thanks!
I wouldn't even know where to begin on such a large map like structure.
begin at the bottom :P
i made a map of the roads and then sliced the remaining sections onto smaller chunks, made them look interesting and extruded them, made them look interesting and extruded again, and just coped :P
i will probably do a tutorial once i improve my workflow :P
