Question one: Have you ever drawn before?
Question two: Where did you get the ideas?
In general both eyes need to look the same if they're fully open. And I think you need to look at an eye tutorial :3 Not how to draw an eye, but how they "work"

In the first drawing the hair goes behind the ear and then over her chest. This means that the ear is under some pressure from the weight. I'm not certain that the ear is able to hold all that hair. I don't have that long hair so I can't say for sure.
Work in progress: Everything.
Alternative title: Nothing.

The first drawing looks cute. I think the  bow would have looked better if it were either smaller or angled differently (it looks like it's on her bangs and I don't think that's where girls usually clip their bows...) The shading is pretty good! And I like her nose and mouth - but it'd be good to practice drawing eyes.
The second drawing: I like the attention to detail in the clothing and the shading on her hair. That said, I thing the lines are a bit too jagged and you'd do well if you softened up the edges a bit.
With a little practice, I think your art will be excellent! Good job :)

so i spent most of last night looking at anatomy and thought I'd give it a go, perhaps not great but i tried my best ha ha

what possessed me to shade it, i honestly have no idea.

i then found a simple-ish (okay very simple) looking picture from a manga book i purchased yesterday, and made an attempt to copy it

here it is a bit less messy

Well it's good! =D
The proportions are correct and the shades are great! It's a good decision to draw the source of light, It could help a lot!

It means using a black pen and erasing all the sketching lines.

Don't be afraid of ruining it! It will look pretty believe me! And if it really is bad (which I don't think so), it's just a sketch so you can simply start over again.
Bros with Legomaestro since 2010. I think.

I'm gonna ask loads of questions now because I'm scared i might do something stupid ha ha

when you say black pen, are we talking any type of pen, would a Biro do? or do i need a crazy fancy pen?

and what would i do about the shading? i don't know how to get tone out of pens :(

I don't recommend biro pen but maybe an ink pen I specially like the PILOT plumix one, or some art stuff pen like faber castell pen because it's pen with china ink inside ;)
Yay, I love crazy fancy pen. 8)

For the shades...well when you use ink, you could do folds ;)
