Hi there guys!
Today is the first Background workshop!

I posted several pic, feel free to pick your favorite to draw this workshop.

Tools : pen, black pen, eraser, pc programs etc etc etc
goal: make a simple natural background quickly.
mission: draw one of those backgrounds in less than 30 min (max 45 minutes).
Once you have understood what you needed to draw a simple campaign field, try to draw another campaign backrgound  pic in less time (20 min, than 15, 10 min etc)

We will begin with a simple natural background. Useful and simple to use in both stories and illustrations!

Those backgrounds may cause some problems: they need precise details in the close ground and more diffuse ones in the background to give a depth impression. The long herbs have to look different because of the wind . The trees in background may be a problem, be careful with them!

Post your drawings so we can see your results! ^o^
next background: to remember the last days of summer, the sea!

I see that this hasn't been updated in quite a while, but I did a little urban exploration today and took some neat photos of some places. These would be great practices for perspective, geometry, and detail work.

Have fun!

Huh. Maybe it's just my crap eyesight, but it looked pretty blurred to me. I can go ahead and adjust that, yeah.

EDIT: fixed.

Definitely not why they turned out so, but I feel more motivated when drawing from scenes that I could experience in some way or form, but this is definitely a useful workshop to at least train some framing and the ability to pick out details.

I tend to laser focus on certain details and lose proportions to others within the picture, however, even when I try to slow down and take in everything as a whole, I just get so overwhelmed by the amount of work that needs to be done. The perspective and borders of windows alone prove to be quite taxing. I wish I could just power through such stuff without so much angsting.

In any case, here are my attempts.

Wow. Now I almost don't even want to post mine. Then again I sketched them in person and couldn't keep a constant eye-level thing. Maybe I'll try again if I have time and post.

Give me a while and I could probably take more cool perspective pictures around campus and stuff. I know the views from the top of parking decks is sick.

Oh that should be interesting

@Mahlua You should look for a pdf called Pencil Sketching volume 2 by Wiley or something. It's really basic but helpful stuff when it comes to breaking down problematic stuff. And am I hearing doubt in your skills Mahlua? I don't like the sound of that haha. Keep at it. I could already see from your other images your textures and focus is much better than mine so just keep at it.
