Definitely hate it, but I'm making progress on learning it. Cheers!

@ Basic Usually I always have a story for such characters but I'm drawing a blank on them. I'll try to whip up something later, thanks!

Maria Seyle is a Knight of The Light, crusaders who want to spread a their holy text across all quadrants of the galaxy whether other civilizations accept them or not. They are constantly wrapped up in battles and their loyal footsoldiers take pride in their extremely expensive hard cover copies of their bibles.

In a reflection of their strange philosophy they have perfected shield and armour technology. Maria is equipped with a standard Knight 'Gum' Armour, a memory alloy that adapts to any sort of environment. Her 'Icon Sword' is actually a considerably powerful laser projectile weapon, though not as good as it could be.

Domo harigatou Mr. Roboto (Cyborgo?)

Forgot how liberating and fun it could be drawing from photos. I literally lost all motivation to do this. Damn it's so relaxing not having to think up everything. Of course, messing up proportions is frustrating and everything but it feels like my visual library is filling up rather than emptying. Going to be doing this for a minute. Going at it without breaking everything down. Just for the feel

man you've done a ton since I last posted haha
great characters and lovely coloured pieces! my favourite is the girl with the funny backpack/headphoney thing.

good job on the coloured studies. I can't say I'd fancy doing both at the same time, I normally do line studies of the basic shapes and figures, and then I do shade studies on its own without any outlines haha.
Especially the top 2 studies with the photo reference came out really well.

And that painted soldier - very awesome. I need to get into that sort of sketching with blocking out colours rather than drawing with lines, as I think it's a very important step to being able to paint digitally, as opposed to colouring in a lineart. I might try and have a shot at that if I can figure out how to make it a regime haha.

great work as always!

Thanks a lot man!

Going to have a frustrating year lol. Heavily referencing + Colour seems to make my art better, so I'll have to remove every proud instance of what I actually enjoy drawing and just mechanically study stuff I guess. Fun times. Ah well. I'll use it as an excuse to watch more movies and anime

Lel it just occurs to me the Ramones were named after Ramone

And I can sort of see the resemblance

That's some amazing copies, especially with the tone balances!
Yes unfortunately the best way to learn art is not always the most fun way. I've compromised on my efficiency so that I don't bore myself to death with studies, but I still have to do lots of copies of all sorts of stuff.

Hopefully it'll give you a nice boost to your skills :)

cute animation too.
