Yeah. I should've had a mirror at least. But it really was fascinating. I could've written a lot more on my post, but studying my hand like that was almost a spiritual experience lel. So weird. Unfortunately I'm not yet at the level where I can sit somewhere and draw a landscape. The good old days of the Renaissance artists who could spend hours studying a subject are not mine quite yet.
1000 bottles? Gawds no! Don't tempt me so! I think I'd rather do that as a general 'still life' study or something. But you know what, I'll note it down. These days I'd rather feel guilty about a project I didn't do than just giving up without considering the possibility. (Looking at you 'draw 1000 watches' plan... Among many others.)
@Coryn yeaup. The thing is these regimens will be always be a failure if I consider them to be something extraordinary that takes time from my day. I want to do them like you write using Google Docs: Without disturbing my general every day life, just do these things on the side so that I can live while learning.
@Mahlua damn Nozomu did Dance in the Vampire Bund. His character designs are legiiiiiiiit. Also nose-bleedy in an uncomfortable way. Like damn.
The counting thingy is weird. It does have very bad days when you're on number 56 or something and you have to reach 500 and you're not sure it's worth the paper (or even numbering them at all). But it really helps. You can be in an argument about how much you work on improving your drawing and vaguely say 'I have a sketchbook' or throw a number 'I drew this a hundred times. Literally." and feel proud about it.
At the very least, if a professional is critiquing your at they will have a better idea of how much you actually draw which will hopefully make their adviced more measured e.g you drew 10 stick figures vs. you drew 50 and still feel like you didn't get better. They can look at your work, evaluate it then suggest something.
I mean you could do that now: Which hands looked the worst? Which looked the best? What could I do better?
Anyhoo, without further ado. Figures. I should be more stick-man like but forgive me.
