Planting the Seeds of Destruction...

I always begin with the head, then make the body: sometimes I use circles for the body parts when the pose is complicated, most of the time I draw directly. That means that 50% of the time the head is too big for the body : I end up erasing the head which was my drawing base lol

i do the exact same thing.. even the last mistake, lol .. that's why i love to draw digitally b/c i can just cut-distort-paste the head back on the body to fix it without re-drawing the entire head again.. it's a great time saver.

For some reason, I'm jealous of your skills even though it's just lineart. xD

The reason you would use so many layers is so that you have more control over the lines, color, and effects applied to each individual part.

Mm.. ohh..
I guess if you're drawing was more involved, then it would be good to be able to turn down the opacity on some parts and such.
XD
I'm a loser, so I never usually do that.. (I do.. but it's with bigger sorta parts. :/ )

It really depends on the artist. For example, I sometimes have the following layers from top to bottom:

Effects
Final Lineart
Details Layer
Color Layer
Guide Layer
Background 1
Background 2

It really changes according to what I need.

I hope you're generalizing. O:
I have all different colored parts on different layers.
I.E.
skin, shirt, pants, etc.etc.

I do sometimes use multiple coloring layers for the characters but it's not seperated into the categories of clothing. I would base the seperation based on the effects I want to use on the clothes.

Yes the marker tool XD And well, for drafts and lineart, I like to have as may layers as possible to widen my choices of erasing without too many problems and resizing or duplicating layers to save me time drawing more lines xux;
