« on: December 05, 2009, 07:43:25 AM »
This weekend is the yearly comics festival of my town!

Here is the result of this morning!

I met 3 authors:
a scenarist: Mathieu Mariolle (Kookaburah Universe, Pixie (published in usa too)
We talked about his job, his technics, his inspirations...

Fennec: author of Leo, rugby passion!
We talked about the links between animation and comics, on the evolution of his project

Alice Picard: author of Weena, Okeania
We talked about her colors technics, her style, the link between authors editors etc
She made a special drawing of Grisee, my beloved cat who died this year.
Here is the pic!

More pics in evening!!!

I will post a longer comment in wednesday about this festival but here is a quick sum up!

The authors loved the anthology:
- they liked our international origins, the way we mix different cultures and influences
- they liked the different styles and levels present, the fact everybody had a chance to take part on it
- they were impressed by the fact it was in english and printed on demand
- they like the idea of a regular anthology although it may be hard to produce it regularly
- they all asked me a card of the site (happily I had them)!!

I talked with many authors about:

coloring technics: photoshop, paint
line art: hand made and pen tablet
scenario: how to deal with many stories
influences and scenario ideas: where to get them
links between editors and authors
links between animation and comics
role of editors
how to become pro: art studies or fanzines?
plus their opinions about our anthology, pics of their art and the drawings i got etc etc

Woooooah, that sounds so awesome  :JC_cheesy:

And they also said so many nice things 'bout the Anthology  :D Yeeah, looking forward to hear more  :JC_cheesy:

(edit) Woooah, I now realize, that my/our/the work was actually seen by authors with published work :icon_santa: (Had a bit trouble with the text... Maybe serialized was better then published?) :hmm:

They didn't have any criticism: their only remark is that it may be hard to have such a regular rythm of publication.
I was surprised because I always had critics when I used to show around the fanzine I used to do. This time, they had only good remarks and opticism. Of course, our art isn't perfect but they said we had a good base.

They especially liked the authors introduction, the different styles and origins of the anthology.
