Picture this: a new member joins MR to get help with writing.. this new member then precedes to create a new thread for help or posts questions in the wrong thread entirely.. either that or the new member wastes his/her time searching the forum and finds this...
the "ask the writers" thread .. (i have done this myself) .. this thread is filled with 5 pages of info that most likely won't help out the new member.. (like myself) although IME with that thread, my questions have gotten answered pretty well.. thankfully .. but, i don't think that a new member would be so lucky, being that the thread usually gets buried rather quickly and a new member probably won't waste there time (like i have) trying to find this thread in the first place.. hence the 2 scenarios i've mentioned earlier..
Now imagine this: what if we had say 5 sticky threads at the top of the writers section.. each one of these threads have a specific topic pertaining to a writer's interest.. the member who is in charge or contributing to these threads would start the thread off with basic to advanced tips right off the bat.. as soon as the thread is created it would begin helping members even if nobody is online at the time..
Pros: the new member would then precede to post specific questions in the correct thread to have it specifically answered by other members who have experience with this topic... before you know it, we would have a plethora of specific info on exactly what the new member is looking for, which is extremely easy to find (ie:sticky = no searching, wasting time).. now multiply that by 10 new writers.. the writers section would not only be more active but, it would help it self.. no more waiting for members to log on and find threads and post.. all the info would be neatly stored at the top of the writers section ready to be used.. (like so many other forums that i visit)
now tell me how that won't help out the forum? .. i'd use it and i'm pretty sure many would too... if i came across this site looking for info.. i would join just b/c of that.. seriously i would ..
this is why i really think that this... vvvvv
Since there are more writers now let's set up diffrent topics with each one covering a diffrent aspect of writing. Whoever volunteers to cover each section would post a basic introductory lesson and then whoever needs help in that area would start posting in it.
is a great idea.. period
that's my 2 cents.. do what you must with it
