Weekly Shonen Heat

Weekly Shonen Heat
A western manga magazine

Rules are the following:
Magazine will be published weekly every monday.
The magazine itself is weekly, but series dont have to be weekly. They can be published twice a month, monthly or erratically, but this haves to be clear to the readers, who may be expecting a particular schedule for stories to come. Just dont start a weekly series if you cant follow it, no one will blame you.
If a series breaks 2 deadlines in sequence its schedule is downgraded. No returning from a downgraded schedule unless you post a streak of 3 double chapters.
Chapters are 8 or 10 pages long, no limit of panels per page. If a chapter is 9 pages long, make a portrait so they are 10 pages now.
One shoots are 8 to 60 pages long. If more than 20 pages, it gets published in two or three parts. If more than 60 pages a short weekly series of 2 volumes gets published.
Member artists will rotate to make the weekly color portrait and promote their running series this way.
Series and one shoots are compiled in 32 to 60 page volumes with a color portrait under the seal Summer Comics.
Theres NO exclusivity or copyrigth holding of any works published.
Popular volumes of the running series get translated to/from spanish. But theres no translation of the weekly chapters.

Why im doing this? Because a magazine, as a product, is more easy to market than its individual stories. If one story gets good and pulls enough readers others will benefit as well by having a chance to be read. If a enough big pool of artist contribute its efforts of marketing will help the others.

But really this is just a project, ive discovered i can keep at least 3 weekly manga by myself without overworking, so im trying to make it long term.

What do you have to do to enter as a contributor? Nothing. Just keep the good vibes on the board and keep posting your stories and artwork. If you post a manga in the members manga section and you can get to page 32 with a reasonable quality I will invite you to join. If you post a story in the writters section and its reasonably good, i will try to find you an artist and invite you two to join.

I will update this post as more details are decided.

Cheers.

hope it works out, you've definitely shown you can do a lot of pages :D
I think series of different release schedules might be a tad difficult to follow but we'll see once you try it.
looking forward to it!

Most readers wont mind having to wait two issues for a chapter of their favourites as long as you have at least 2 or 3 good reads in the meanwhile. The sticky part is balancing the schedule so you have at least 3 good reads in the same issue. If most authors are keeping two week releases, it might as well be worth changing the magazines release frequency to match that and publish any running weekly series two chapters at a time, twice a month.

For me, the hard part is not drawing three stories at the same time, but writing those plots without making them a mess. My idea is to write just ONE story weekly. The second will be a short-middle lenght story that i have written fully before starting. And the third will be a collab with a writter friend.

We will see if i can keep the flow without many freeze-outs in the schedule :-P
