I'll update my OP to add a couple of things (It won't be anything interesting really).

I might try to be around more often but I can't promise anything.

I'm entertainning the idea about posting a drawing or two but I discovered that not all pencil drawings are friendly to scanners. My inking, along with many other aspects of drawing, needs to be improved. I managed to get my hands on a couple of tools, one of them is a dipping pen. I'm starting getting accustomed to it but I'm still not satisfied from the results. In general, I have alot of work to do.
I'll PM Suuper-san at some point to talk to him about posting drawings (it's the price he has to pay for being nice and helpful . He standed out to me when I was browsing before even registering.)

pencil drawings are indeed a pain to scan, even ink drawings sometimes dont scan as well as you'd expect.
chances are you'll have to either scan with a higher contrast or play with other scan settings, or edit the images after scanning to increase the visibility of the sketches, such as lowering the levels to increase the amount of black. Most competent photo and image editing programs have these features.

I used to draw the lines again with a mechanical pencil some times. I think those can scan well because I photocopied one and came out fine enough.

GIMP is my preferred art tool, it's definitely powerful enough to do the job and extra. And most of all, free

drawing with a B instead of a HB, assuming you don't already, can also help improve the quality of scans as B is much darker but still feels close to a normal HB

I only have 2B but, except in my early days, I don't really use it. I only go with HB. I have to try and stay focused on the long term goal which is making manga. I want the pencil to be there just enough for me to ink it and then to be easily and nicely erased.
Nevermind, I just have to become decent at inking a bit sooner which suits me fine.
