sorry if theres a better place for this hasith but i was wondering if anybody knows any free video editing software i can download off the internet. i run windows btw. just looking for something simple to mix videos so if anyone can help it would be appreciated.

well, shouldn't you have windows movie maker already installed?

if not, then there are tons of sites you can download trials form ^^

There is Jahshaka... it looks pretty powerful, but it's AMAZINGLY hard to figure out. I gave up after 20 minutes of just trying to bring up the timeline.

its fine. my biggest problem is finding videos that wmm will work with. i got the converter that windows makes but it wont convert avi  :'(

use winff... it free and easy to use. i use it for more than just the videos too. it's been really great to work with. you can find it easy enough, along with how-to's for it. so you know!
it also will convert your audio so you don't have to use a thousand converters.

Yep, the biggest problem with WMM is it won't work with MKV files... I use Avidemux to convert clips to avi.

Well, make sure you have the correct codec for the avi you're using... it might be an xvid or divx video encoding. The program you use to watch videos might have the codec build it but won't share it with other programs (for example, VLC... has built in codecs but no other programs can use them).

The best codec pack is the cccp pack... it contains every codec you'd ever need
