And it's also up to us individuals. The more a single person posts, the more others have to respond to, and become inspired to initiate themselves. Our system is a positive feedback loop in that respect.

Welcome to mangaraiders TEA.

So you read Tokyo Ghoul too? What do you think of the latest chapters?

Nice colour work on the first post there. MR ftw!

Not bad at all, TEA~

I always got to ask when I see the hair colour; why pink? :hmm:

The M and the R in MangaRaiders was pink-ish so I just used that colour for the hair :-).

Did another image but might colour it tommorow. Thinking of food when you just wake up.

Spoiler

Haha that expression turned out pretty well. Like your line art too

Cheers mate,

I read all of Tokyo Ghoul and then got on to Re: but by that point I was a bit confused as to what was going on. It felt like the first just dropped as it was heading for a climax. Tried to get into Re: but, as much as I love Sui Ishida's style (especially his painting) I find reading Re: somewhat of a chore because sometimes it looks pretty illegible. I might watch the new anime instead and read the manga again after.

Nonetheless, I think it fell into the same trap as Seven Deadly Sins where the creator wrote it into the ground and now has to write back out of it but for Re: it never really quite found its stride again for me. That might change eventually.

And thanks for the compliment on the lineart, I've been struggling with that lately to the point of frustration. It's not really looking as graceful as I'd like. I'll keep practicing though, I've set myself some goals for the end of the week.

And thanks as well Slam, I was just playing with colour. I've never really tried painting that much but it's something I'm trying to become more comfortable with.

Hey! I haven't had a ton of time to come around here since you joined, but I really like your style and your art. I thought I'd say something before I forgot, haha. Hopefully I see you around!
I'm too shy to initiate... But I'm open to anyone else doing it. Just tell me if you need to say something :D

Cheers, appreciate it. Still way off my art goals but I'll get there eventually. I'm sure I'll see you around. :-)

Spoiler

Random lineart. Trying to get used to doing full body figures. Still a bit off looking and not very fluid but I'm putting in the hours so eventually I'll be good enough to finally start a manga.

Spoiler

Random concept art for character.

If i can make you a suggestion for your pose fluidity

- try gesture drawing, you take any picture which you love the pose and try to reproduce it, hands lifted,  like you see it. Begin by the skeleton it is essential to learn faster then the overall shape. After you reproduced it like it really looks you can try to take your manga character an draw him in the same pose. Doing it from real people you see outside is way more useful as you might need to put the 3d your eyes see in 2d but it can work with picture too.

- It doesnt need to look good not at all it is for your brain to analyse the body mechanics you can do gesture drawing by giving even 30 second to each poses. At the beginning you feel like it is pointless because you dont even have time to draw correctly and it is really looking bad but i can tell it makes a huge difference in a short amount of time.

- For good result do 15 quick skeleton, choose 10 make then in cylinder shapes, finally you take 5 from it and turn them into manga character. I saw some people become really great in only 3 months by doing that.

- Never feel guilty for using references this is how you learn to draw and learn the anatomy. Beware about using drawing as reference though, they mostly have anatomical issues and you will learn to reproduce them and you'll be stuck with this bad habit.

This is just an advice nobody needs to follow that but i can tell it is really good even for expert artists.

Thanks Walt.

Aim, I did do gesture drawing for a while I'll have to get back into it to recapture that sense of fluidity, thanks for the reality check. :-)
