WhiteCrow rebooted his comic, Society X, as "Sol Nexus" on Webtoons the other day.
Oh that's great, I'll have to check it out at some point. got a link?

@Robin good to see you around :D
although I'm in your discord XD

@Nabe yeah I've always found the forum format to help with keeping your ideas organized and in your own place, discord and similar sites is a sort of everybody's art in the same pot sort of feel and you can lose track of your own thoughts a bit, at least that's how I feel.

MangaRaiders is a lot quieter than it used to be but it picks up every now and then. But it feels sometimes like I'm talking to myself when I post XD

Super I see what you mean with the silence. I could understand if it feels like talking to yourself XD .
What comes to my mind is most of these raiders probably have a ton of kids by now and are so divided just to add
to other life things .

I remember when I first joined mangaraiders use to talk about its golden days . It would have been nice to see it then but I wanna hope that the golden days haven’t ended and there’s more to come. Maybe with some new generation mixed with the veterans.

A lot of us oldies have gotten really busy IRL with jobs, house moves, weddings, travelling etc. I became more active again a few years ago when I had time off before the start of my PhD, and during my 1st year when the workload was a bit more relaxed. But now, in my final year, after the long lab hours and all the reading and writing for my thesis, I just don't have the bandwidth left to write or review much of anything outside of that. There are the occasional bouts of inspiration to ramble about my recent fiction reading, but nothing like when I was writing for the MR Canon... and it is doubly hard to be motivated to do so with the general reduction in activity and engagement with posts.

Unfortunately, forums are not really the fashion anymore, although MR isn't terrible to use on a phone/tablet. I should probably make more of an effort to engage in the Discord myself... unless something weird happens in the world of the internet, I imagine that's where an MR revival could actually happen, as it can facilitate group calls with screen sharing, instant messaging with notifications, chatbots with all sorts of functions, easier image uploads etc. The only thing that it's not as good for is acting as a direct repository of work, but linking to personal cloud folders isn't so bad.

Yeah... Unfortunately the owner of the most recent (afaik) MR discord server has gone radio silent. I have some very basic mod powers there, but I doubt I would be able to kick any bots or whatnot that end up in there. It at least serves as a sort of contact list and place to ask if anybody else is experiencing forum access troubles, but if there were to be any sort of revival it would need yet another server to be made I fear.

Trying to figure out how to make my own art server more active. Done a few art giveaways for random active participants which happened to be won by MR members. XD Probs ought to stick those in my old art thread... Wonder if Ko-fi posts are compatible for hosting images here.  :-\

oh yeah 100% I think most of us were active during school or college years when life was just that bit freer.
Even I can't post as much as I'd like although I tend to reply to everything when I can XD

An MR revival would be great, although I think without as many old members it wouldn't be so much a sequel as a spin-off, if you get me :P

True, I mean on my personal data I have every art I've ever done perfectly organized (in triplicate no less XD)
But idk it's still nice to have the personal chit chat with people commenting on your art and just your art, it's like a personal growth timeline for me. But yeah whatever is most popular usually wins out.
That being said you could use Discord threads as a personal art thread, which would be quite similar.

@Robin
thanks for the link, I just saw it in the MR discord XD
yeah with forums or servers or anything like that it's a struggle when the mods/admins go AWOL. It would be useful to have an automatic hierarchy that promotes the lower level mods in the event of permanent inactivity of the admins.
I think you're right about the current MR Discord admin, although it still runs alright but noone's particularly active. I try and post a little more frequently but it's not much.
I will probably make my own server at some point which will be welcome to all the MR crew but no idea when I'll actually do it XD

@Noisey Yh I get that forums may not be trendy but I think MR offered/offered something unique like a bus stop for writers/bar/library . Also I could try to do more reviews if it’s welcomed XD.

@robin sounds fun to try to keep the server masses entertained. People do movie night , gaming . Maybe manga related you could try doing over over manga on your art styles.

@super I am all for mr revival . And why a spin off tho . The new characters are just as much raiders as old .It would be a continuation you know I think we on season 18 or more who’s counting .

oh certainly, but I meant in the terms of the new people won't use the old memes and running gags and so on that we had when the forum was active, so it'll have a different feel to it. There was a sort of a culture that continued as the members changed. But yeah, it's always changed over time so it'll still be MR of course no matter the members.
