treadmills are far less mentally stimulating.
yeah that's another reason I'm not too keen on it, I can hear the birds singing in the park when I jog round it and it's super pleasant. Obviously weather will play an issue, but I think I'll worry about that when it happens. It can't rain every time I try and go out, and even if I get out 50% of the time it'll be pretty good.
If you're using equipment and stuff then a membership totally makes sense, saves on space and also on maintenance that you don't have to worry about. I don't think I'll ever be that much into fitness to want to do that, I'm just trying to not be out of breath when I go up stairs lol

Every goal is admirable as long as you work towards it. But I'll stand by it that the treadmill gives the best consistency when it comes to running. I know there are people that will run regardless of weather, I just ain't one of them, lol.

I've been looking into other jobs besides McDonald's and have been talking to career counselor and finding out that drawing and writing are more hobbies of mine then something I want to make a career out of. I'm now thinking I want to do something more with animals. I just had an interview for a job at a pet daycare. They said I should hear something by Monday and I'm really hoping to get the job.

Good luck Indigo! It can be hard letting the idea of a creative career go, but they will always be there for you.

Well I didn't get the job been really dissapointed about that but now looking into getting back into manga art and writing. Thinking about starting out with a series of short slice of life manga which I'm thinking will be set in a utopian future. Still thinking of all the details like how far into the future it is set in and what that future is like and stuff like that. Hopefully I can get all the details figured out soon and start the drawing process soon. Also I'm not sure where to post my manga once I'm finished with it.

Sorry to hear about you not getting the job, although keep your eye out for similar jobs in the area that might pop up. There's not just one animal daycare centre in the entire city right?

Slice of life in a utopia is definitely in the iyashikei genre. A lot of people will like reading things like that, myself included.

You're wore than welcome to post your manga here, even in draft form, to get feedback if you want. There's also quite a few popular webcomic websites at the moment, I can't remember any names off the top of my head tho as I dont frequent them much.

Looking forward to seeing some manga from you soon!!!!

Sorry you didn't get the job Indigo, but I'm glad you getting back into writing/art. The Members Manga board is always available for you here of course, but for websites outside of MR, webtoons.com is quite popular these days, although I can't speak to the process of getting on there.

Yeah I'm pretty bummed that I didn't get the job, but then again as good as I am with animals I don't have much experience with them besides having a pet hamster and volunteering at an animal shelter while in college. I think I'm better off making a career off of my artwork. Besides that's why I studied art and graphic design in college anyway was so that I could eventually do something in the arts.

I rise!

Sorry for the unplanned sebatacle guys, but everybody's (I assume) favorite moderator got married!  :cheer: :cake:

I'll save everyone the mushy details, but the wedding went great, we spent way more money than we wanted to, and I now got a shiny gold ring on my hand, lol

I definitely felt a weight lift after it was all said and done. Work and other activities are still there, but a great deal of stress that was really hampering my creative spirit has melted away. In the  last week since things have mostly returned to normal I've had more original ideas than I have had in the last six months, lol. I even have a short story idea I plan to crank out this week, which will mark the first writing I've done since spring

Anyway, I'm glad to be back. Sorry I missed so much, but I will be around a lot more often now. Going to integrate MR back into the schedule with gusto.

That's awesome!
So glad it went well for you I know weddings can be crazy stressful sometimes.  And it's understandable when you've got a lot going on you can't always stay in contact with everyone all the time. Good to see you around again :D
Funny I've also had a release of stress lately although I'm not really sure why, actually it was probably related to a family funeral I was involved in organising. Once the stressful events are over you can really feel the weight is lifted so I feel you on that.
It's been a little quiet on MR as usual but It'd be great to have another face around. I've been trying to get into writing myself actually, but ironically been busy with commission work XD
Working on a method to produce my first magnum opus actually. It won't be a very good one though XD

Ha... yeah the day before I was basically blind with stress and rage for all the little things going wrong. But the day of was a lot better. And we had an open bar at the reception which never hurts, lol.

Sorry to hear about the funeral, but like weddings they're a necessary part of things. Just having to plan them sucks especially when you're not prepared for the amount of work it will take. Glad you're through it.

A magnum opus is still a magnum opus though! The act of creating it is 90% of the reward in my opinion. To hell with what other's think at that point. Proving to yourself that you can do it speaks louder than any comment.

Yup you start to blank out and just hope that you've covered all the things that need covering, and before you know it, it's over :P

heh, true true :P

I agree. If I have my way I probably wouldn't even post it for ages lol out of embarrassment lol.
To me, the truest magnum opus is the skill of the professional.
Like, rather than any of my best pieces so far, my favourite thing is the knowhow that I've learnt along the way, and the skills and confidence to face the future tasks. Like the skills to face the unknown, is the true skill. The ambition to keep trying, and the perseverance to overcome the odds. It's the feeling you experience while working, not the work itself. The mental world you build up inside yourself and escape to when writing or drawing or planning. Sounds very much like a fortune cookie but that's how I've started to feel about my work.
I have always said I could end up earning a fortune on a serial manga and I'd still be calling it a practice piece XD

I get this feeling! It's why I started to do more challenges and experiment with new things. The weirdest thing for me in the process though is that I forget the feeling until I'm actually working. My lack of consistency plays against me here, so that I have to relearn what I'd already done before ^^;;;
