Videos on learning how to write
« on: January 23, 2018, 06:16:49 PM »
I've been listening to a few youtube videos on writing in general and figured it would be a good idea to share some of the things I find here. Some of the videos I'll link are pretty long but they give you a great deal of information. You can probably listen to the videos while working on something else and still pick up on a wealth of information.

The first set I'll share is by PlagueOfGripes. His "Let's Gripe about Writing" series is a great look into the process in general.

Part 2: https://youtu.be/RnU5NLiGCAs

Part 3: https://youtu.be/_88RAJA1k-w

Feel free to share if anyone else finds useful material to learn from!

I may have to check those out, I didn't know Plague did writing advice in truth .

I'd add Brandon Sanderson's lectures to this, they're a longgggg slog, but there's plenty of food for thought to be gleamed from them. They personally helped me with dialogue in the past year or so. I'll just dump the channel link below and you can choose which lecture you're interested in.

Looks like Brandon Sanderson's videos will be great to watch. I'll start checking them out tonight. =)

Plague does offer insight into writing fairly often. I've seen him talk about it with the Dragon Ball Z/Super videos but they're sprinkled in throughout his Dark Souls playthroughs too.
