So glad to hear things have improved. I love sliding doors but yeah not having locks is a little strange. We dont have locks on any of our rooms except the bedrooms, or handles for that matter.....

It's not the best option, but a good, thick dowel rod can work as effective lock on sliding doors/windows. Just lay it down in the track, and that door will not open. You just have to make sure it's cut to such a length where it can lay flat, without having enough give for someone to squeeze something through.

Learned that in my first, extremely sketchy apartment in KC.
