Hmm...maybe a little bit of background on the character will help us help you with the name picking, although I have to say, if the character isn't of Japanese descent, I'd steer clear of Yuki and go with Chris.

If you can't find a meaningful name in there, you don't deserve to be writing characters.

And a Mahlua said, don't give non Japanese characters Japanese names. It makes no sense. Names must be supported by backstory.

I think people should explore more varieties in names. Too many people who want to make manga just want to copy Japanese names but I feel that's very unoriginal. Start out with their nationality and parents interests. So an Italian American would be named something like Isabella Modera or maybe an indian would be something like Ravi Patel. My character Clara Solara Navarre represents her mothers love of the pianist clara schuman, fact that she was born during a solar eclipse, and her ancestry dating to the kingdom of Navarra in modern day spain. Chris and Yuki in my opinion are used far too often and don't stand out, I don't know how many anime I have watched with a yuki but it accounts for more than half. Not saying you cant use those names, just suggesting that a little more creativity when naming a character makes them stand out and actually contributes to their characterization.

Name generators can be a good way to go when trying to pick a name for a character but sometimes I like to do a little exploring and create my own name.

Example: City of Wolsa (Wall-za) which is a city protected by two walls and two mountain side cliffs. So I went to merriam-webster and looked up "wall". I did this to see the IPA (You know, the thing beside the word to show you how it's pronounced, I think lol) This is where I chose the "Wol" part in the name. The next part came from the word "Mesa" which I took the "sa" of the word and made it have a different sound, "Zah".

This can apply to characters, too! Just think of a characteristic or emotion they often display and get creative. Take your time. Look up synonyms, anything!

Creating or choosing a characters name can seem like such a daunting task but it doesn't have to be. Shoot, I've thought of names or ideas at work by looking at the label of something. Just keep at it and try to capture that perfect one
