MangaRaiders Writers Merit Badges

Participated in some workshop here on the forum? Then you deserve a merit badge! Your name will be put up on the hall of fame for future posterity. Keep a look out for workshops offering this sort of thing, and feel proud of your achievement. And as always, thank you for your participation!

Here is a list of the available Merit Badges

Some badges multiply if you've entered them more than once. When you get large amount of reentries in a workshop you can level up your badge.

The White Quill (Created at least 1 Workshop)

The Purple Quill (Participated in at least 1 Workshop)

Wings of Grammar (Participated in Attack on Grammar Workshop)

That's an awesome site for sure. Ill use it in some instances, but I'm not sure if you can technically call those merit badges?

sounds like a great addition to the forum. each workshop could have its own badge as well with a relevant logo/design.

@sherbert thats not a bad idea but i agree with lego its not a badge, but an achievement. we need both i think :P

the trouble with stuff like this is that its a pain to figure it all out and keep it running. i have had an idea regarding something like that which i plan to do something about but its a secret until then and its not completely relevant as always :P

True but you could set out a list of achievements for people to perform and just list their name under the image. Could be a good little trophy hunt. :P

agreed. we need secret achievements and stuff that you dont know about until you get it :P

if it was a proper game, there would be random achievements like "PM a MOD at least twice" or "have 10 posts on other peoples art topics". that might make everyone a bit more active, especially if there was a reward at the end of it :P

Sure sounds like it'd simplify the work to make the badges! I think I'll make a poll on that to choose between merit badges and achievements, since it'd be bothersome to have both exist at the same time.

As it is there is no system per se. This isn't in the forum code or anything so I could go with achievments if that's what people prefer.

It's definitely a pain to keep on running... Which is while I'll make it like the milestone topic basically haha. People will be awarded over time without any need for constant checking. I'll try to update the page as much as I can whenever people win something and then hope that it keeps track of everyone.

I'm hungry for ideas on this front though. Really just going with the flow so I'd appreciate any tips and feedback on this front.

definitely both would be great, but merit badges are the most manageable and doable of the two. the concepts do overlap quite a bit, so i think before a vote or anything it would be a good idea to properly define what both badges/achievements are and how they will be implemented.

personally i think it would be nice to have the badges in our signature, but there isnt much space to add images with the character limit, especially a lot of badges.

theses are either one time our level up out of 8 segments like what Sherbert posted. not sure if its useful, but they might serve as inspiration, so i thought i would post it :P

Those look pretty standardized and simple! Could be a perfect compromise between the two.

Yeah, the signatures can only go so far so I'm thinking of hosting the merits elsewhere. How do they make them work on anidb?

they appear in your profile page under a tab called achievements or something like that.
basically a page with mostly nothing but those circles. they are sorted by type as they are in the wiki page.

It'd be so simple to make circular icon badges like that with the rings as well. Well easier than drawing them from scratch.

it's OK :P
i think a lot of sites do similar things, just make it slightly different, like they are square badges or something :P
then you actually feel like you designed it rather than copying it exactly :P
