Christmas's Quick Sketches
« on: March 08, 2016, 09:40:57 AM »
So everyone,

I have been trying to draw characters and things for a while. I have a bunch of art stuff I guess, but don't share it to the public... UNTIL NOW! :sheep:

SO without further ado, I present:

This picture is based off of a real life picture of my boyfriend and I at the beach. I was really bored, and just tried my best to do it. I know his left eye is a bit buggy... T^T (sorry babe...)

But yeah, looking for constructive criticism! Thanks!

You should embed all of your artwork here on the forum using image tags Christmas. It makes the viewing experience easier on other members.

Thank you! I just used regular old coloring pencils

@Coryn

I'm sorry, I don't quite know how to use the image tags. Where exactly can I learn how to do that? Sorry :/

Wow, based off a real picture O: I like the simplicity of it, makes it easy to look at.
Your face shapes look good too.

If it helps, here's a drawing tutorial for hair that I used to use. It's not for highly realistically drawn hair, but it does show you a few basics about hair flow and such:

Keep up the good work!
No one is perfect . . . that's why there's erasers and extra paper.

i didnt actually notice anything wrong with the eyes :P
drawing from a photo reference is a great idea, your drawing looks good. the hair looks like its blowing around a lot, if thats the case then great, otherwise try and not make it stick up so much :P
well done and keep it up :P

Okay so I tried drawing SONIC THE HEDGEHOG!

And I'm proud of it! I'll try to scan it in soon. But with Windows 10, I don't really know how to do image tags, because it won't let me click on emojis or spoilers or image tags like it used to...

So I'll continue using DeviantArt links until I understand how to do that.

May you gain understanding.

[ img ] BLAH.jpg [ /img ]

Example:

Just remove the spaces between the brackets and between the link and the tags themselves, replace that BLAH with any other direct link to an image (not to the page of the image!), preview it, make sure it looks pretty, and post it!

You can quote my post and get the image code that way as well.

Right click on your DA image and then select "Copy Image Location".  Then in your post just right click and select paste. now select the url which is pasted on post and click on small Mona Lisa icon on post tools.

Phew! Didn't think I was going to ever post him! :D

Looking for some critique, I used a reference online. Thanks!

It's a bit weird to critique art that is copied from a photo because you never know how much is copied and how much is stylized unless you saw the original photo.

With the first picture I'll just point out a few obvious things which are you forgot the details in the ear and that the girl's ear is a little too small.  In the second picture I would say to just work on the inking.  It will take a while to get good at inking but the only tips are to have more confidence in your lines and to just practice more.
