3D Anime Project Needing of Writers
« on: February 03, 2017, 10:04:45 PM »
Hello Everyone!

My name is Jose and I am Founder of Final Boss Studio. I am posting this message because I was curious if I may be able to present something of interest along the lines in working on our anime project as a co-head writer.

The series itself is called Awakening Within and you can find more information on it here:

Website page: *link removed*

Facebook Page: *link removed*
Our goal is to create a couple of trailers leading up to a test episode where we are going to showcase at an anime convention in Detroit called Youmacon November 2017. Once we do that and the series is well received, we will run a crowd funding campaign to secure funding for the series. We are aiming for high quality to ensure the success not only the trailer and test episode but to ensure we have a successful crowd funding campaign.

I am posting this because for the trailers and test episode to be completed, we are in need of some writers who are capable of creating action scenes with a dramatic setting. The series itself deals with the supernatural, something along the lines of Buffy and Angel.

We won’t be able to paid you up front for the work (trust me I know) however, we are able to pay you, at your going rate or on an agreed percentage, where you will receive once we secure the funds from the crowd funding campaign.

We have people already on board, who have their own reasons why but ultimately they want to see something to come out of this. Currently, we have artists, riggers, concepts artists and VFX specialists who are eager to get started.

If this is something you may be interested in, I look forward to hear back from everyone!

~Jose

Hi Jose, I like your spirit, so let's talk. You can call me Blue. I'm a writer with 2 novels and 12 short stories under my belt. I've won plenty of awards for my writing, and prior to my canceling my membership, my work received critical acclaim at thenextbigwriter.com. I think I may be helpful to your cause. The only problem is fit and role.

But before we get to that, here's a sample of my writing. It's the prologue to my 2nd novel - The Tiananmen Phantom, a story about two brothers during the Tiananmen Square Massacre. I think this best showcases my talents for high tension dramatic sequences (although not much action). In the prologue, the two brothers and their father are being forced out of their home by the Chinese government.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PROLOGUE

In January of 1979, China's vice premier and de facto leader, Deng Xiao Ping met with president James Earl Carter of the United States to establish diplomatic relations. In opening its doors to trade with the outside world, China would one day become a giant of the export industry, ensuring prosperity and stability even in the face of economic collapse. Unfortunately, not all of China would benefit.

Realizing that China's ports would soon multiply in value, Chinese government officials and their families promptly bought out all of the lands in Beijing, Hainan, and Shenzhen, forcing families out of their homes.
Many Chinese families were reluctant to comply.

Lieutenant Ma was a sharp man, both in wit and appearance. He stood nearly 6 feet tall, but looked almost insect-like next to Liu, the fisherman.

"Please sit." said Mr. Liu. "Would you like some tea?"

"Yes, please. I hear you make exquisite tea," replied Lieutenant Ma. "Were you expecting friends?"

"That depends. Are you a friend?" said Mr. Liu. The two shared a laugh, but Lieutenant Ma's laugh clearly outlasted Mr. Liu's.

"Are they yours?" asked Lieutenant Ma, referring to the two boys peeking from the corner of the door.

"The older one is Feng, the younger one is Xiao Hu." (Little Tiger) Mr. Liu brought out two cups of tea and sat down across from Lieutenant Ma.

Lieutenant Ma took a sip of his tea. "I suppose you know why I'm here," said an unimpressed Ma.

"Feng, take your brother and go to your Aunt Yi's house!" Mr. Liu called to his eldest son.

Lieutenant Ma took another sip. "The world is changing, Mr. Liu. Our children will not grow up in the same China that you and I grew up in.  The west has its capitalism. And now, China has its socialism. Capitalism, socialism, they're just ideals. But ideals do not run nations. People do. And wherever people are given power to govern over one another, one thing will always remain the same - The rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer. But I don't need to explain this to you, do I?"

The sound of whistling steam pierced through the Lieutenant's speech.

"Excuse me. My vegetables are ready." Mr Liu got up from his seat and entered his kitchen. He grabbed a freshly caught fish from a barrel and began slicing it with a butcher knife as a fly hovered above his head. "Please continue."

Lieutenant Ma smiled devilishly. "You are a very important man, Mr. Liu. And your house is a very important house. You were once a servant of our country like me. Now is your chance to hang up your hooks and once again sacrifice for the good of your country, your family."

The fly flew across Mr. Liu's cutting board as he raised his knife over his head and struck down with thundering force. The fly laid pinned by its wing beneath the butcher knife, still buzzing.

Lieutanant Ma took out a contract and pushed it toward Mr. Liu's side of the table. "Thanks for the tea." said Lieutenant Ma, as he got up and proceeded out the door.

Don't worry about paying me, I have a day job. That's not to say I'm not serious about being a writer. The only problems, like I previously mentioned, are fit and role. I hope you don't take any offense to this, but I want to be as honest as possible so we don't waste each other's time.

My first issue is it seems like what you're looking for is a director, not a writer, since you mentioned you wanted someone who can write action sequences. At the very least, you are looking for a screenwriter, and definitely not a mangaka. I took a screen-writing class in college. I am not a fan of the nuances of script structure. Also, if you want someone to help with action sequences, I think it would be best to find a choreographer. Personally, I don't think I'm a great action "writer" per se. But I have a decent handle on envisioning action sequences. It's hard to put that to words, but much easier to put that into a scene, which seems to be your goal.

My second issue is with my role. If all I have control over is action sequences, then I don't think I would be a good fit for your team. Specifically, I think my best talents lie in dialogue and character development. Plus, given control over dialogue, I can write comedy (for a sample of this see my post in the thread titled "(Possible Pay) Seeking A Cooperative Writing Team." For a show like this, you're going to need comedy to distinguish yourselves from others. Because the theme alone is simply not original. Also, will I have any control over the direction of the plot at all? How much of it have you thought out already?

Lastly, back to the issue of fit, I'm not sure if the theme and style of the story is a good fit for me. It seems a bit rehash. Even you yourself said it's a lot like Buffy. That definitely does not inspire confidence, as I don't see what makes this project special or different. If it's just something plain and simple, I don't think it will be a good fit for me. I'd rather work on something with layers and twists. I'm fine with a non-multi-million dollar production. But the story has to be compelling and mind-blowing. I can do that. But I'm not here to hijack your project. I need to know your story will be that for me to come aboard.

Anyways, if you think I'd be a good fit or if you're willing to accommodate me, then shoot me an email. Regardless, I wish you luck!

P.S. if you're wondering about the time I'm posting this, I'm an insomniac, and I only sleep 4 hours a day. But I do live in the US (Texas to be exact).

HI!! I'm pretty interested in this. Are you going for a RWBY approach I guess? I love to write, so if you're interested... (I took this from a sci-fi Vocaloid fanfiction I'm working on right now):

Spoiler
"A great percentage of men and women in the work force have STEM-based careers. This is due to the finding of Aves araneae [the flying spider] by British supernatural enthusiast Richard Ozlem and French pilot Amelie Petit. The generation of now is encouraged to be inspired by these two incredible explorers and is urged to be exposed to as many STEM related activities as possible. As a teacher at Crypton Academy, you are required to guide your students away from such careers listed: fiction-writing author; musician; artist; …"

Luka blinked her eyes sleepily as soon as the sun hit her face. Glancing over at the nuclear-powered clock on her wall, she knew that she had woke up early yet once again. Luka groaned and snuggled her head underneath one of her many pillows in an attempt to fall into a deep sleep. After a few minutes of tossing and turning, she knew that it was no use. The seventeen year old girl sat up in defeat and slipped on her favorite slippers before pushing off her bed to stand up. She wasn't required to attend school until 9 a.m., but Luka's body schedule made sure she was up no later than 7 o'clock. Therefore, Luka had a lot of time on her hands to get ready for school.

'I need to use the bathroom,' Luka thought as she opened her bedroom door and shut it with a quiet click. Even if her mom was already at the university, she couldn't afford to be loud unless she wanted to feel the wrath of Tako Luka, a mischievous balloon octopus that her dad had named after her. He had picked it up from a small expedition last month with a team of aerial biologists over the Mediterranean Sea. It was a curious creature, Luka admitted; it had eight arms like a sea octopus, with suckers and a soft, pillow-like body.

"It produces helium inside its arms, and releases it through its suckers, which are really pores on its skin," Luka's father, Megurine Jun, had told her. "It preys on just about anything it can fit in its mouth, including small birds who are unlucky enough to be flying that high in its territory."

This was why Luka didn't have to feed her kitten anymore in the morning, because she couldn't have any other small animals while Tako Luka stayed in the Megurine household. Luka really missed Tora-kun's warm body on her feet at night when she went to sleep, but she didn't want him to become lunch. Therefore, Tora-kun stayed over at Lily's place while Jun continued to run experiments on Tako Luka.

Luka flushed the toilet and went over to the sink to wash her hands and get ready for school. First was her face; she had the unfortunate luck of being the granddaughter of a British woman and a Japanese man, and it seemed that her Asian genes had failed her. She often had breakouts from time to time if she didn't wash her face daily, so she dutifully exfoliated her face with an expensive scrub her aunt gave her and applied a mild facial cleanser that left a nice, clean feeling in her skin. Next was her hair. Also due to the English genes in her gene pool, she had hair that turned wavy at the bottom of her long tresses. Her hair was often dry because of her curly haired grandmother. Luka combed in a conditioning cream that helped moisturize her hair while helping keep frizz away. Now it was time for a few touch ups to cover the dark circles underneath her eyes. She had stayed up well after midnight, and had managed to get five hours of sleep. That wouldn't be too bad unless she was the type of person who did this nightly. That meant that it was bad, then, since she often stayed up late. Luka expertly applied the concealer, and her eyes instantly looked brighter.

Luka yawned and capped the concealer. Her morning routine was now almost complete. As she walked back to her room, she took off her pajama top unceremoniously, undoing the buttons with ease until her top half was exposed. Luka almost laughed to herself. Her mother would have a fit if she caught Luka like this, and this was exactly why Luka liked these weekday mornings. She could do such rebellious acts without being scolded and lectured. Smirking to herself, Luka shimmied out of her pajama bottoms and entered her room. She dropped her pajamas into her hamper and reached for the uniform that hung on the wall hanger. It was a sleeveless white fitted shirt that had the school crest on the left pocket, and it had a dark yellow trim that was supposed to represent the color gold. Her knife pleated skirt was white as well, and had a thicker trim than the shirt. Since it was almost summer, she would have to start wearing this outfit. Luka was thankful that her school had four seasonal uniforms that all helped the student deal with the weather as she slipped on the top and zipped up her skirt.

Well I'm sure I'm not what you are looking for, but if you want a guy to bouncy some ideas off of for basically free, don't  be afraid to send me a message. I love the idea of people working hard to make their own dreams happen, so if I can help I'd love to try. Good luck my friend, and always keep pushing forward.  ;D :D

I sent a PM earlier, but I'll repeat the same here in the topic.

Your post has been locked because you need at least 20 posts on the forum to be able to post in the Writers Wanted or Artist Wanted boards. It's the forum rules put in place to avoid people just posting and leaving the forum without taking an active part in the community.

And when you have the required amount of posts, you need to specify if this is a [Paid] project or [Free] Project.
