Ryan finished work gallery
« on: February 10, 2016, 11:04:28 PM »
I'll post any finished digital paintings or drawings in this thread rather than my sketchbook. I finished this really recently and makes me want to finish some other things soon, so there we go.

I did this for an art publication, identity is the theme.

Whoa, that looks pretty intense man! What did you use to paint this? Looks great.

How long did it take you to make it?

Thanks lego, I used photoshop cs5. I spent around 6 hours I think.

I've been reading science news lately and learned about some advances in gene-editing. So things like that contribute a lot to this idea of mine.

Whoa, that's really cool, Ryan! Neat quote on there too. I love that kind of stuff.

The style you painted with is awesome, I would be afraid to work with a brush like that but you pulled it off really well! Kudos.

I can't wait to see more! :o

Whew. It's been a while since I've posted in this thread. I've made a commitment to myself in the recent days to work towards finishing pieces for a minimum of 2 hours per day, with most of these drawings existing in a finished state because of this. I start everyday around 9am and have managed to be super consistent because I also created a super consistent sleep schedule beforehand.

Overall it is really exciting to be finishing pieces, and I wish I started doing it earlier. There's a lot I am learning in each piece, about what I like and how to solve the problems that come up. I've also gotten more into horror art recently.

Man Ryan this is just phew! You jumped up to a whole new scale and it's really working for you! Love 1, 4 and the last one. An odd way to put it but it feels like the sort of epic artistic things you see pop up in Pinterest that are done by sone comic legend or something haha. Great pieces!

Consistency is the be-all end all especially in art. How did you go about solving your sleep schedule? That's always been a fight of mine but I can imagine how useful it is having those extra hours of the day to do something productive.

Keep it up!

*Searches for a very specific meme for 10 minutes that fits perfectly but then gives up* Ah, f*ck it.

Skeleton! Skeleton! Skeleton! Skeleton! Skeleton! Skeleton! Skeleton! Skeleton!

*Ahem*

Glad to.see you posting art again Ryan! I'm really digging the skelly headed guy/gal in armor! Granted, I am definitely biased towards skeleton artwork, so take that as you will, lol  :sure: :sure:

I totally get the joy of finishing pieces but also the annoyance of not having started it sooner haha.
That's some really nice pieces, and a nice range of composition and renders as well.
Awesome that you've got the time to work on your art and that you're sticking to your schedule!

I like the last scenery one because all the lines look really good, you got the textures of different things good, and the coloured skeleton one. The broken line style is a nice sketch style.
