Oh, never seen you do portraits before Walter. Pretty cool. I think varying pencil pressure will be the key to adding proper depth and make the drawing pop more. Working with pencil is all about light and shadow AKA how much pressure you use on your page.

If it's not your cup of tea working with fineliners work too, but you're going to still get the hand of hatching or something to 'fake' light and shadow.


Also thanks for the productivity tips. I need those for sure.

Nice tips, I read your blog article.

Yeah very nice to see different art from you!
It definitely could use a bit more shading, you've started well with some crosshatching here and there, but you probably need to have a larger area of shade to white to get a better feeling of form.
