Rusalka: COMPLETE comicbook Project.
« on: October 25, 2015, 05:00:07 PM »
It's good to be back, been like 2 years since I last visited. I plan to return with many more pages of another major project: Vampire the Masquerade: The Return of Caine

Rusalka - is a short comicbook project I'm working on. Genre: Drama, Tragedy, Fiction... ok and Por...  I mean Romance. The story of a young girl Radoslava who becomes a rusalka - a Slavic mythological folk creature that is basically a land mermaid. This is an ongoing project about 45% finished. I decided to make full use of digital enhancing

There's a couple additional artworks related to the comicbook, you might like'em:

That's some nice artwork. I believe you're Polish yourself, given that you show such accurate folklore traditions, including the clothing? Also the traditional middle Europe female: a gold haired blue-eyes

That be true, I'm Polish. Although clothing is a bit overestimated here, it's so colourful and fully detailed and every person wears shoes in that community I drew in the comicbook could pass for the most rich and wealthy rural town in the 16th century Europe. The reality is a bit more down to earth:

But the outfit of Radoslava is actually inspired by a folk suit... well save the extensive decolage. I come from the Polish voivodship of Wielkopolska, here the folk outfit is a game of blues whites and blacks and white aprons.

Well, you didn't mention if Radoslava was from a wealthy family, so the clothes made her look like an usual daughter of a farmer in 18 century.

As I'm a ???? ? ?????, I kinda take interest in this story.

Also, doesn't rusalka mean more of a nimph than a mermaid? I know rusalka is specific for slavic culture, but I believe nimphs have more in common with rusalka than mermaids?

All I know is they're spirits of tragically dead virgins or pregnant women that come back to lure men and boys with baskets of apples & charms and then strangle them. Folk mythologies are the same everywhere, they only have a local taste XD As a Vampire fan and author of a comicbook and maybe a novel I know how many cultures dress the very same thing in their own way.

That story actually had a happy ending. If it just went like that it'd be too much. So much colour work! Impressive stuff Galejro.
