Week #1 07.09 - 14.09 - Watches
« Reply #15 on: September 07, 2015, 04:03:17 PM »

I'm drawing this watch. I'll make a tiny study because I'm skyping today. But I've chosen the Urwerk 1001

It is amazing.

Let's do this, suuper.

Sure. It can tell you the time, day, month, day/night, and stuff, but can it tell you why kids love Cinnamon Toast Crunch?

Suuper, I totally screwed up the first 3 days so I haven't started any studies at all. I hope to get stuff done today but otherwise it's going to turn out suckier than anticipated

well, i have been ill for the whole week and haven't drawn anything, let alone watches :p
plus my internet was out and i couldn't access hardly anything before it cut out again, so i havnt posted here for the whole week as well :P

do you want to try the same again for next week, so extend the deadline to next sunday?
better to have good results over a longer time than move on to something else without perfecting what we are on first :P

That's exactly what I was hoping for actually. Sorry to hear about the illness. And the internet. That's always frustrating.

And yeah let's go for it man. I know I'm up and running. My planned R&R didn't work after all. Or rather it let me find out that I really do enjoy drawing to fill up my day haha.

awesome. i will see what i can do this week
my illness was mostly headaches caused by new solar panels in my school, the transformer (or whatever it is) they are connected to makes that insanely high pitched noise that only kids and dogs can hear, after a couple of days i basically had a permanent headache, then i caught a cold off a kid at school, which knocked me out the rest of the week :P
i did make a complaint to the school though (about the noise :P) :P
mostly better now but headaches whenever i try and think too hard, so its hard to draw since your always accessing stuff from memory, oh well should be fine soon :P

drawing for a whole day is fun, i have one of those coming up soon that i dont plan to waste :P

Well this week was bust. I did try to make a study on a side view but it didn't come to fruition. My bad. I'll attempt this workshop again next week haha... Laziness is a true bane

I've finally taken a tackle at this

I watched this video and after thinking about it today I've decided to just keep this in mind: Break everything down to its simplest forms first before adding detail. At the very very least I should be able to draw the primitive 3d forms of the watch. I don't have much hope for the extra detail but hope to at least be able to draw its shape and where the watch faces stay.

Anyways suuper, if you're up for this tell me. I think we should just make studies in general rather than extending them over the week? How about the week be the deadline and one/two pages be enough for a complete study? Haha, I'm just that lazy

sorry, i died for a bit :P
i had like 6 things wrong at once which was just crazy. all mostly good now :P
when i get ill i dont have the energy to do anything, and for some reason i couldnt access MR for ages anyway, like even now it took like 3 or 4 minutes to load the reply page.
ive done a bit of drawings still ill post that on my thread, but havnt done anything for this topic yet. will try this week since its half term :P

@kaijumaestro nice work! definitely having the simple shapes in mind is a great working point, i try that as much as possible. even figure drawings can work with it :P

That sounds crazy! Yikes! Welcome back in a way I suppose? I'll be looking forward to those drawings haha.

So I hear. It's nice to figure out that it does indeed work. I hope I can retain information better now

my memory is really bad for certain types of data, so i try and convert it into whatever data i can store the best. normally when memorizing something i have to imagine it in my head like a picture, and everything i cant remember i look at again, then repeat. just like memorizing vocabulary or times-tables.

Things didn't go well, but I'd like to say with this my study week is done T-T. I'm willing to do more, but can't attempt this watch without wanting to die

i was planning to do a different watch, but i think im starting to like this one :P
i will give it a go sometime this week :P

oh lego try measuring parts , like getting the ratios of proportions, that might help you to build uyp the basic shapes better. like if one part is twice as long as another, when you draw it you wont mess up that proportion etc.
